Scary Stories

Recently, I was able to pick up an omnibus of the Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark trilogy with the original artwork by Stephen Gammell. I was really surprised because in newer copies, the artwork has all been redone and books with the original artwork has even been banned in some schools by concerned parents. They say it's too scary for small children, which I totally disagree with. I was always creeped out by the drawings for The Little Black Dog story, but I thought that made the story even more fun to read.
I was really glad I found it, though. These were some of my favorite stories growing up, no matter how creepy the artwork was. My favorite story from the books was called High Beams. I love the twist at the end.
Anyway, I'm sure I'm not the only here that's familiar with the stories. So what do you guys think: Is the original artwork too scary, and what's your favorite story from the series?
