  • Thanks for sharing! I'm sorry you had a bad experience but I'm glad you are home now!
  • Sounds like a long few days. I'm sure you're glad to be home. I'm curious though-were you unaware that getting an epi early (4 would certainly be considered early) could slow or prevent you from fully dilating? It's possible it would have happened anyways, there is no way to know. I just know that the advice of my doula sister is that if you're getting an epi, which she supports, it's best to wait until you're 6ish, just to make sure you are more than halfway there. But I also didn't know that at either of my inductions. She told me when she arrived and I was dilated at 5. I wanted the epi and she worked with me to get me a bit further along. I didn't educate myself prior to giving birth beyond the hospital birth class.

  • @crashcarheart - actually, 4 cm is considered standard. It's prior to 4 cm that it can stall or stop labor. And my labor didn't regress after the epi - I got to 7 cm before it stalled.

  • Oh, ok. Sorry, I tend to go by my sister since she is a certified doula. Hospitals don't care when you get your epi. And stalling at 7 is still considered stalling and not progressing.
