$2.00 Bills

I have one two dollar bill. Are they worth more than $2.00. I don't think they are just checking. Should I hold on to it and not get rid of it?

Re: $2.00 Bills

  • They have novelty value, but they aren't worth more than $2.  An auto shop in our area hands out $2 bills to customers who have to pay to pay a bridge toll to get there, so they can't be too valuable.
  • I save some just in case they become more valuable in the future.  At times though, I love to get a bunch of $2 bills and dollar coins before going somewhere.
  • Just a novelty, but they are kind of fun to have some time.
Random tangent: I had a student find one in his text book one year, and thought it was counterfeit money. So it led to a cool discussion.

  • Like PP said.
However I have a funny story. Here in ME there is an ATM that holds only $2 bills that is in the one big strip club. It is kinda creepy to see a $2 bill in someones wallet at the store because that is where most all of them come from around here.

Ha! That's hilarious. I've never had a $2 bill, but I think they're neat and would hold on to it if I got one.
  • I have a couple that I've held onto for fun.  But no, I don't think they're worth more than face value.

  • I have about $50 worth of $2 bills, Susan B. Anthonys, fifty cent pieces, and Sacagawea dollar coins from when I was a server.  I always saved them, but they're not worth anymore than their face value.
