Pregnancy announcements? New trend?
I was lurking on TB and saw some posts about people mailing out "We're expecting" announcements in the mail to friends and family as their way of breaking the news (as opposed to in person, on the phone, email, etc.).
Is this a new trend? I see cute announcement pictures on Pinterest, but I thought of them for announcing on FB and the like, not for actual cards.
Have you ever received one or would you ever send one?

I haven't seen this as the norm in my social group yet.
One thing in particular I don't like about it is that you can't control the mail. I'd think most people have a preference in the order they announce to people. What if the mail speed messes that up?

That's how my parents announced my conception to family/friends
They tried for several years and then sent out a handwritten note that said "GUESS WHO'S PREGNANT?!" with nothing else on it (it was on a notepad that had their name at the top)
I actually have one of the letters and if, Lord willing, I ever get KU, I plan to write "NOW" on the bottom and then give it to them (not mail it).
All that to say, I could easily see myself doing that with the exception of immediate family, close friends, and folks that I either know or suspect T-TTC. I hate attention so doing it that way would mean they would "OOOHHH AHHHH OMG!!!" over me. Blech.
In Christ alone my hope is found. He is my LIGHT, my STRENGTH, and my SONG!
T-TTC since Dec 2008. PCOS/nonexistant cycles(anovulation) and endo. HSG in '10 revealed both tubes blocked. Lap surgery in Dec '10 to correct. Failed Clomid/IUI and injectable(Bravelle)/IUI cycles so far.

Natural Cycle (8/7/13)- BFP! Beta #1 (9/10/13): 509 Progesterone: 18.64 Beta #2 (9/12/13): 1118
Our friends sent these out to family they knew weren't going to be at a family function, and that's where they were announcing. So they wanted to make sure the other family members knew the news before the rest of them called telling.
We had actually planned on letting our Christmas cards last year tell people we were pregnant. H wanted to do a picture with 2 large snowmen and a small snowman in the middle. Then put some cute saying on it (I don't remember what it was). If it hadn't been around Christmas that we would share the news, then we wouldn't have sent an announcement out.
