Book Lottery- A Lesson Before Dying (NS)

I liked that it took me out of my book comfort zone, because it is not a typical book I'd pick up. It was a quick read and held my interest but I wasn't overwhelmingly involved in this read. I personally have problems with stories where I know a character is going to die. It just upsets me too much from the start you know that it's going to happen (alone from the title). Perhaps I would've enjoyed it more if my perception of the book wasn't already dampered by the imminent death. Overall, I'm glad I read it but it wasn't neccesarily life changing for me

Re: Book Lottery- A Lesson Before Dying (NS)

  • We read this book in high school. I remember liking it at the time but being really annoyed by the way our teacher tested us on it. She asked really stupid questions like what color things were and didn't get into the themes and implications of the story. At the time I was so disappointed because I didnt do well on the test but I had loved the book and taken so much away from it. I dont remember it very well now, maybe I'll reread it for SBC.
