If you both read and watch Game of Thrones, what would you do if the plot in the show got ahead of the published books (as in the show started airing spoilers for the upcoming books, but the books would eventually be published).

Re: S/O GoT Book v Show Clicky Poll

  • Are they getting secret info from GRRM for the show?  How could they spoil books that aren't even written yet?  I'm confused.

  • I saw something somewhere saying that GRRM has told the producers how each storyline ends in case he goes to the great bookstore in the sky before he's written it all down.

I haven't read this, but he doesn't exactly look like a pillar of health does he? How sad to think you might not see the end of your series published. I give him big kudos for thinking ahead and being that in touch with his own mortality.

  • I've also read that he gave HBO the information on how the series plays out.

I suspect that it's not just in the event something happens to him but also so they can plan. Which is why I wonder if they're not switching things around in the show already so that they can eliminate less critical characters and storylines.

I haven't read a DWD yet so I'm worried about spoilers now! I haven't started watching this season yet but I don't think I'm going to be able to hold off much longer.

Edit: auto correct changed the title!

  • Yeah, he's worked closely with the producers and writers and has given them the information about how it all should end. Here's the first article I found about it:

  • Oh here's a more in depth one that talks about the show catching up to and surpassing content in the books and both the producers' and GRRM's feelings and plans on the matter.
