PP Hair Loss

For those of you who dealt with hair loss postpartum, how long did it last? Mine has been going strong for about 2 weeks, and I'm wondering how much more I have to look forward to. I'm not sure my poor shower drain can take much more!

  • At least 4 months here as well.  I still have some bad days when a lot falls out, but it's mostly subsided.

  • Yikes, maybe I shouldn't have asked!  I'm going to go cry in my coffee and schedule my haircut now ;-)

Mine was about three months, from when A was 3-6 months. It was such a mess.

  • Mine was 4-5 months. The small re growth hairs at my hairline are the worst.

Mine lightened up around 8 months and was terrible at 4 months. The re growth around my hairline just now doesn't look quite so funky. PP hair loss was seriously my least favorite thing about pregnancy. Hair was literally everywhere.

  • I know @madeline10L said a haircut really helped her.  Did that make a difference for anyone else?  I have slightly longer than shoudler-length hair right now, and I was considering a new bob anyway, which I've had in the past.

  • Mine was probably about 3 months. I have funny regrowth now at 9 months pp.

  • I don't remember how long mine lasted but it was for months (I'm thinking between 4 - 5 months). I finally got a haircut and it helped A LOT!

I didn't try a hair cut but I don't feel like it would have helped. It was bad for months. Now I have stupid tiny hairs around my hair line that stick straight out unless I plaster them with hair spray. It makes putting my hair up for work incredibly annoying.

Congrats to both my TTC buddies, Amberley18 and sb2006 on their beautiful babies!
  • Mine was really bad around 4 months. I just noticed this week that it seems to have stopped...so about 5 months?

  • Around 8 months.  And like @tinytrex said, those little mini baby hairs at the hairline were the worst.  I had to make sure I always had my bangs cut and couldn't wear my hair back without them because late in the day I'd have this halo of tiny hairs.

A hair cut didn't help my pp hair loss. I always feel better after one though so it can't hurt.

  • PP hair loss was aweful, there was always hair all over DD. It lasted about 2-3 months for me, then I had nasty oily hair for a little while, but now at 7 months pp my hair is nice and silky smooth again. :)

  • Thanks for the responses, everyone! @mrsvedo I know, right? This one is a well-kept secret, at least prior to pregnancy/postpartum.
