NMMR:vent!

edited May 2014 in Money Matters
So I am headed out for a big research conference in Chicago today (YAY!)

however...last night the dog vomited, she vomited once over the weekend too...she's not usually a puker. and then the cat vomited twice last night! so I've left a message with the vet, waiting to hear back from them, however H is busy duing their business hours the next 5 days, so If I can't get them in before I leave today it'll have to wait until next week. I just worry about leaving them if they're sick!

then yesterday I had my haircut, my regular stylist is out on maternity leave, so my appointment was with one of the junior stylists (great just $27 for a hair cut instead of $35!) but THIS is exactly why I don't mind paying more for my stylist! I went back once last night because the back of my hair was uneven and as I was styling it this morning I found one side is longer than the other! Saturday I'm presenting at at a research conference on Saturday, this is no good! do I go back to the same place AGAIN and make them fix it for free?? or do I go to the salon in the hospital and ask them to fix it?

this is ridiculous!

Re: NMMR:vent!

  • were you the one that posted about hair color last week?  I totally don't mind paying higher dollars for a good cut.  I pay $55 every 8 weeks for cut and blow dry…..it's so worth it to  me.

  • I swear some dogs make themselves sick when their person is about to travel. We were supposed to dogsit for my parents' pup a few weeks ago so they could have a night away and he promptly got his first ever stomach bug. They were too nervous to leave him. Hope it passes quickly for yours as well. Also, break a leg with your presentation!
  • Vet here! Ask the clinic if you can do a drop off appointment, and pick the pets up at the end of the day? Also, dogs and cats puke every now and again :). Has she vomited since? Is she eating and drinking well? Any chance she got into anything abnormal (trash, chewed apart a toy, etc)? Same questions for the kitty as well. Long term vomiting is concerning because of dehydration, so definitely take them in if it has continued. I hope everyone feels better soon!

  • @vlagrl29Yes! totally me...saving $6 bucks with a junior stylist was SOOO not worth 2 trips back to the salon to fix her mistakes!

@stashaT12 she puked once on sunday (grass, kibble, and some carrots came-up) and again on Wednesday (just kibble).  She's been a little obsessive about eating grass since sunday (and clearly had eaten some before that). she doesn't seem to have obstructive symptoms (I do research in human GI...so I get that so long as stuff is going through her we shouldn't worry too much about a blockage).  Each day has been one instance of vomiting, and she's drinking plenty. for the cat, her vomit was clear liquid...she has had other health problems this year (infected scent glands) that has caused her to chew the fur off her hind quarters, she just finished a 20 day round of anti-biotics for that, but I suspect that perhaps she and the dog may be sharing a virus or she may have a hairball.

I didn't hear back from our vet until after I had already left town, she didn't sound that concerned, but H has instructions that if either animal vomits again or begins showing other signs of not being well he is to take them to our vet or the emergency clinic. I hate being away and worrying about them!
