I made pretty good progress on Five Days at Memorial.  It's pretty good.  There's a lot in there about incident command structuring and the exercises they did to prepare for an emergency, and I have participated in a couple of those at work, and reading this makes me feel like maybe I need to pay closer attention next time.
  • I started and finished Open Road Summer by Emery Lord.

I've been in such a reading slump this year, it's taken me weeks to read each of the few books I've read. I read this one in 2 days. It was just such a fun read. Thanks for the rec @Young_Love

@susieBW - I just finished a class on business continuity planning which had a huge focus on incident command structures and crisis management. Really interesting and VERY eye opening when you start going through cases. Important stuff.

I'm listening to Drums of Autumn - I got a few hours in this weekend.  I finished reading What Alice Forgot, which was interesting.   I read all of Elizabeth the First Wife, and I read most of Lips Touch Three Times.  A great reading weekend!

I started Growing Up Duggar and it is terrible.  I have this weird fascination with the Duggars but I would never let my daughter read this book.  I only keep reading it because I can't turn away from the train wreck.

ITA, I'm completely fascinated by ICS.  I'm a lawyer, so my role in these things is very, very minimal and I've never completed a real ICS training course or anything like that, but I would love to get more into it.  All I know is what I've learned from these couple of exercises, which have been about environmental emergencies, like invasive pest outbreaks, not life-threatening emergencies and natural disasters.
  • I finished reading Gathering Blue by Lois Lowry. I started reading Starters by Lissa Price. I could finish it today and might if I can manage to avoid car sickness.

I would be interested in hearing more about this book. I, too, have a strange fascination with them.

I listened to a very little bit of The Stand, overall it wasn't a very productive reading weekend for me.

I don't think I could've listened to this book for exactly this reason.  I think I started crying about 1/2 way through and didn't stop until after I was done with the book.  It was so good, but OMG.

It took me forever to read because my eyes were full of tears and I had to wipe them away every other sentence. I feel bad recommending this book to people because i don't want to make then cry, but it is such a good book!

I read about 15 % of Requiem.  I had a very busy weekend with a Communion and a Wedding.
  • Zip, zilch, nada....  :( I was sick and just didn't get any reading done.

I'm about 150 pages into an ARC copy of Jackaby by William Ritter, a co-worker of mine.
    Books Read in 2016: 4/50

  • Finished Kindness Goes Unpunished and The Gift of Fear. Days later and I'm still having a Longmire hangover -- and when I tweeted as much the author favorited my tweet :) Normally I like to savor series, but I might just go right back to this one. I miss it.
My favorite place on earth: The Amargosa Valley.

  • I finished Push Girl (YAY!) and started Dreams of Gods and Monsters. I'm only 20 pages in. I've been lazy in the reading dept the last few days, but I've done pretty well with the audiobooks. I drive a lot these days. I hope it will get better next year and I'll have more reading time at home.
