Anybody familiar with Baltimore Inner Harbor?

DH & I are going to a concert at the Baltimore Soundstage on Saturday night. I need to book a hotel room (last minute, I know). We want to be able to walk to the concert and probably stumble back. :)  Is there any hotel you would recommend that doesn't cost a fortune? Any areas to specifically avoid?

  • Oh I am not too sure but I will send a signal out to my local (I am in DC metro area) someone there should be helpful.

    What is the concert?

There's a Renaissance, a Fairfield Inn, and a Sheridan very close to where you'll be, but I don't know the cost.  The Fairfield Inn is across a short bridge but I've never paid attention to how the walking situation would be, you should call and ask.

The only areas in Baltimore I'm familiar with are the Inner Harbor (tourist mecca, National Aquarium which is AMAZING) and Fell's Point (bars, cute indy stores, you can take the water taxi from the Inner Harbor), but as long as you stay near-ish to the water you're in touristy-land, which is pretty.  If you go up Market St. from the Soundstage away from the water, there are some excellent bars a couple blocks north.  Joe Squared has excellent pizza, and it's next to a Howl at the Moon.  Luckie's also has good food if you're not in the mood for pizza.

  • Thanks so much for the replies! We're going to see Blackberry Smoke. Not really my style of music, but DH likes them. I am more of a country girl.

The last time I was at the Inner Harbor was about 8 years ago for my SIL's surprise bachelorette party. We took her to see Christina Aguilera, The Pussycat Dolls, & Danity Kane. lol. I've been to the Aquarium a couple times but it has been a while.

  • We stayed at the Homewood Suites in the fall and it was a great location.
  • I have lived in Baltimore my entire life and I would definitely recommend a hotel in the Harbor East area.  It would not be a bad walk from the Soundstage but depending on the time you get out of the show it may be better to just take a cab.  Whichever hotel you choose, talk to the front desk and get their opinion on the walk to and from, as well as the time of day.  They should be helpful in recommending the walk.

Harbor East has Courtyard by Marriott, Hilton Garden Inn, Homewood Suites, Marriott Waterfront, and Four Seasons.  The area is a newer area of the city with alot of great restaurants.
