I received an email today from a friend of mine's sister regarding my friend's bachelorette party. They are planning a long weekend at a beach that is about 4 hours away in September. She needs to know who will be able to attend this bachelorette getaway by Monday May 12th. This friend was my college roommate for two years and we became best friends; however, over the last 2 years or so we've really grown apart. We only talk via text once every couple of months and see each other even less than that, so we're definitely not close anymore. Last time we hung out she posted a facebook status that said it was 'nice to hang out with an old friend' so I'm not even current apparently lol.
Anyway, I'm not sure what to say. I think a drunken beach weekend away would be fun regardless of how close we currently are but if all goes well with my next biopsy we hope to do our first IUI in July, if it doesn't take the next one in August, etc. If I were to get pregnant then I wouldn't want to attend the bachelorette weekend because really the only way I think I'd have fun with this particular group is if I was at least buzzed most of the time.
So what would you all do? Would you say you'd go and then if you get pregnant just deal with being sober for the weekend, or would you decline? What kind of explanation would you give if you decline? My friend knows about our IF but I don't feel like telling her sister specifics.
I'm torn because I hate that I let the potential of getting pregnant stop me from doing things but I also don't want to commitment to something and then either cancel or be bored while everyone else is a sloppy mess.
