The bathroom at work...

continues to mystify me.  I'm sure this is weird and I should just mind my business, but after being so focused on the bathroom behaviors of those around me (i.e. kindergartners) for such a long time, it's a hard habit to break.

There are toilet seat covers available and some people make quite the production out of getting one before entering a stall.  Fine, I get it.  You're super sanitary.  Good for you.  But then...and this never fails...those same people come out and wash their hands for approximately 2 seconds.  Sometimes they don't even use soap!  This is downright paradoxical, no?  I don't get it.  I want to ask someone what the logic behind this behavior is, but obviously I won't.

It is odd...right?

Re: The bathroom at work...

  • I judge people for their hand washing skills as well. But that's funny they are the ones using the seat covers.

Lilly and I say our abc's while we wash.

  • After what I witnessed M doing in the toilet last night,  I don't think just rinsing in the sink with water is too bad.  ;)

Working in corporate and sharing a bathroom with 100+ ladies, I would notice if someone didn't wash, or didn't use soap. Those are the people that I would mentally make a note of to not eat the food they brought in on food day.

Eww. Thankfully I work with a bunch of women in a food serivce office and its just second nature of us to constantly wash our hands. So we get super pissy when the custodian fails to refill the soap dispenser in the bathroom. We have one single stall bathroom on the entire second floor of the building so we never are in the bathroom together.

It just sucks because this one guy from downstairs comes and sits in there for 40 minutes every afternoon. You know, because they dont have a full bathroom with 6 stalls downstairs. I guess he needs privacy to do his business.

  • I forgot to mention that our bathrooms get cleaned twice a day.  And yet, somehow, these people are more concerned about getting germs from the toilet seats than they are about spreading their own germs to other people.  I think that's the part that really bothers me.  The whole "I couldn't possibly sit where someone else's bare legs have touched, but everyone else can just deal with whatever is on my hands" mentality.

Government capacities seem to lack office cleanliness as a requirement.
