Book News

I finally finished "We Need to Talk about Kevin"!!!

I'm kind of glad I did not finish it in time to watch the movie while DH was away last weekend.  I did not realize how the killings took place.

That is all.

  • That ending was disturbing; it would be especially upsetting knowing what your H was doing last weekend, you're right.

Ha ha, I was more concerned about me being scared than his safety ;)

I'll just make him watch it with me now.

  • Selfish! :p

Is the movie out? I feel like I've heard about it, but I haven't seen previews or anything.

@lilliesandvino The movie came out in 2011, to little fanfare, though it seems to have gotten decent reviews.

  • I thought both the book and the movie were so disturbing that each was hard to get through. Definitely needed a Xanax.

Those of you who found the book disturbing, why did you feel that way?

I think I was more disturbed by the way the mother felt about her son than the violence.

  • I think it's a combo of things. Her attitude toward him was upsetting, the weapon he chose was disturbing, and I guess I was just surprised at the ending.

    SPOILER

I thought that he'd kill the mother. It was weird to me that he didn't. However, I read it 4 years ago and was distracted by my internship at the time, so things that I probably should have seen coming I may have missed.
