XP from Bump: Tell me about Westchester

Schools, neighborhoods etc.

We are new to the area and are currently renting in Downers Grove. While we love it here, the commute is a bit much for my H. (The metra is not an option for him.) I found a house that I love in Westchester but know nothing about it. All the areas on the map around it have been recommended to us (Oakbrook, N. Riverside, LaGrange etc) but not Westchester.

Tell me the good, the bad and the ugly! Go!

I do not live there but have friends who do. It is a great location (close to 290 & not too far from the city). Houses are nice & affordable. The elementary schools are fine, but the high school is not great. I personally would not move there with children if you plan on staying there for the long haul (if you have kids). http://illinoisreportcard.com/School.aspx?schoolID=060162090170002
