I had never heard of this book prior to the lottery, and honestly I didn't even know that Gene Wilder was also an author. This was a quick, sweet read.. a little sappy at times, but cute. It's not something I would have picked up or read based on the description, but I enjoyed it!

Wow, sorry, duh a summary would be helpful, huh? I don't know where my brain is today!

It's about a concert violinist in 1903 who has a breakdown on stage in the middle of a performance in Cleveland. He's sent to a hospital/health resort in Germany for recovery and meets a woman there. He's somewhat of a womanizer and she seems immune to his charm, which makes her that much more appealing for him, of course. He also meets and becomes friends with Anton Chekhov - I really enjoyed their interactions.

I recommended this book for the lottery. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I really enjoy Gene Wilder. I've watched almost everything he's been in. It makes me wonder if he wrote this book with his third wife, Gilda Radner, in mind.

I read a few reviews that included that same suspicion and it certainly makes sense.
