This feels like a confession.  There was a short time where I was writing reviews for money.  They would tell me to order a product give me a gift card number, and then would pay me $25 a reviews on paypal.  They definitely stressed that I was to post 5* reviews only and if I felt like it was less than 5, to let them know so they could make it right.

    ETA: Don't judge me.

Not usually.  I wrote reviews for some of my wedding vendors on their Facebook pages but that's it.

  • Yes. I subscribe to Birchbox (referral link), and you can review the samples you get in your box each month for 10 points each. 100 points = $10 to spend on full size products. Usually, I save up my points so that I can get like $20 - $30 off. I've gotten a lot of free or almost free stuff in the year that I've been subscribing. Plus, it's fun to get your box of beauty samples every month.  It's $110 to subscribe for the year, but I've gotten that back in getting free or nearly free stuff.

  • Nope.  But like Christina I did review my weddings vendors, who were all superb.  I'm super laid back, not really the type to review anything--might have to make an exception for $ like our resident hustler @Seipel $-) ;)

  • Ooh I didn't know you could do that @Nic!  I'll have to check that out.

  • I do on Amazon if I'm particularly happy or disappointed with something. It doesn't happen often.

  • I do for the extremes - really bad and really awesome. If its just regular service or product I don't.

This.  H and I rely a lot on reviews for things we buy or go to, so I like to give my opinion on things to help others out as well.

  • This question came about today because I got an email to review my dentist appointment that I had yesterday. I don't normally do them but I did today because I didn't particularly like the dentist that both DH and I saw. ( I mean when DH gets a clean bill of health for his teeth 6 months ago and now he supposedly has 10 cavities and needs all his wisdom teeth out, it makes you wonder what's going on).

Otherwise I don't normally review anything except books on Goodreads and I only do star reviews. Like others I did write wedding reviews for everyone but our photographer.

  • I give reviews (stars and whatnot) but I rarely write a review.

Copy that. I rarely give a written review. Just stars.

  • Once in a while. Usually most of the time it's on amazon purchases. I did get enrolled on zappos' vip program after reviewing how quick my one order came.
Most of my reviewing tends to be food related--in particular if something was really good/bad, etc.

For products, not often.  For restaurants, usually when I get home.  Many times, reviews help me decide where to eat.  I love Yelp!  Before looking at today's question, I was looking at one of my favorite Mexican restaurants to convince H to go there tonight for dinner.  We had a bad take out experience from them over the winter and the food was mediocre.  The Yelp reviews from the past 3 months are horrible.  We're not eating there tonight.
