Back to Monday

Seriously, how does it come around so quickly?! Ugh!!!

So DH and I are seriously considering buying a home and I've been doing a ridiculous amount of research online and still feel like I know nothing!

How was everyone's weekend?!
We had a blast!!! It was so nice being home and getting to see my mommy for mother's day. DH had a good time at the fishing derby, caught 4 tagged fish worth a total of $65. He also caught a nice sunburn on his arms and neck. haha! We got to see one of my nephews soccer games - it was so funny. Every time the kids ran into each other or kicked someone they would say "i'm sorry". It was cute. His team won, 2-0 so he was all excited! Coming back here yesterday made me sad, though. I miss being close to them.

Good Afternoon! Glad you had a fun weekend JLQ. We had fun as well. I had dinner with my mom and grandma. Did a lot errands the rest of the weekend. H took off last night and will be back Friday night. I miss him already.

What questions do you have about buying a house JLQ? I am no expert but I bought one recently so I might be able to help!

I dunno I'm just confused about loans. Why are there so many different kind?! And how does it work, like do you just call up a bank and say "We'd like to get preapproved for a housing loan"?! Like I've banked at the same place my entire life so I have no experience with other banks and the only loans I've ever had were student loans and my car loan, which had to go through a certain place because that's what that dealership dealt with.
We got the name and contact info of a realtor from a friend of mine, so we're going to call her and we're hoping she'll be able to help us more.

Also, I think I'll be joining the smart phone world soon! My phone is really crapping out now and I got my dad's old iPhone when I was home so looks like I'll be caving to the smart phones. haha!

Fourth Anniversary 100 Comments 25 Love Its Name Dropper
    Monday always comes too quickly.

Buying a house is scarey. My advice is be super extra attentive to details. For example we were fooled by a fresh coat of paint and cleanness. Both bathroom vanities are old and just painted over, all baseboards are wood that is painted white and chips. There's just so many little things we missed when looking at it.

I get you on missing family. I'm 4 hours from most of my family and my one sister and her family is 8 hours away (but they're moving to where the rest of my family is in a month). It's hard. We only see them every few months. I miss so much in their lives it seems - especially the kids growing up. That's hard. My sister had a baby last week and we likely won't meet him till he's 3 months old. :(

So my work computer won't let me post anymore. Boo!!!! I am on my phone.
J: we went to our bank. They ran our credit and gave us a range that we could prequalify for. They also explained two types of mortgages to us. First Time Home Buyer one and traditional. First one you didn't have to put that much down but you would have to pay mortgage insurance (PMI) until you pay 20%. The second one you put down 20% but no insurance. Like you said there are a ton of options. I wouldn't bother going to different banks at this time because every bank will run your credit which will hurt your credit. Your realtor will be a help as well. And if there not find one who is. Good Luck!
