Last night DH came home from his softball game with a sprained ankle. It was pretty swollen, and he mentioned that he was thinking about going to the ER to get it checked out.

I laughed at him and told him it was just an ankle sprain, and he should just ice it and take some ibuprofen and it would get better.

Well this morning it was even more swollen and starting to turn black and blue, so he called our primary care doc who told him to head to an urgent care center to get xrays.

Turns out he cracked his fibula! I feel so bad telling him to suck it up last night! Whoopsss! Guess who isn't getting wife of the year award this year?!

oh man! I fear I would probably have done the same thing. OR, I would have insisted H go but then he would say that is dumb, and a week later he would finally go. Hope he feels better soon!

Oops! Poor guy! Although, I probably would've done the same thing, or said "Wait it out til morning."

Ha I just had something similar happen. I banged my foot pretty hard working in the dunk tank at our spring carnival. The last 2 toes on my foot immediately swelled up and I could barely walk but the people I was with laughed and said to just put ice on it because a doctor won't do anything for a broken toe. I asked H if I should go to urgent care and he said "I don't know"

I worked for 2 weeks before finally going to the doctor to find out I fractured my foot. I'm in a big plastic post-op/protective shoe for the next 4 weeks!

I hope your husband feels better soon!!

@quirky75 - Oh no! Hope it heals quick. But that makes me nervous.. I stubbed my little toe really bad the first week of April. My toe was purple for about a week. The swelling/color went back to normal, but I still can't move it right & it hurts quite a bit. I know that nothing can be done for a broken toe, but some people keep telling me the outside of my foot is swollen, but that part doesn't hurt. Who knows!

Oh no! Your poor DH!

Ive broken my foot, elbow, knee, and finger. I really should have been treated for my finger but wasn't. Took forever to heal. My knuckle is a bit bigger then all the others.

Oh no! I guess sometimes it's good to be paranoid like me and go to the doctor about almost everything! haa ha - No, I'm not that bad, but I do tend to go more than not. I guess I've had too many bad things happen that I thought were nothing and they turned into major issues or diagnoses! Hope he is doing better.
