Re: Monday Accountability

  • 1. How MM was your weekend?

    Friday- $0

    Saturday- Circus $87

    Sunday- Moms cake $11

    Total- $98

    2. Any progress towards goals

We put a small amount of $ into our vacay account

    3. I just miss the overall fun and play of being a kid with no work/financial responsibilities. Work really drains the sh*t out of me. I also miss home cooked meals from mom. I hate cooking.

    1. How MM was your weekend?

Ours wasn't nearly as bad as it could have been.  I spent $27 treating H and all of his family to ice cream after H's graduation - this was after his parents treated us to really nice dinners twice, so it felt like something I needed to do.  It wasn't budgeted, but that's ok.  I also spent $15 on groceries for this week, and $7 on fast food during all the driving I did this last weekend.  I also spent $45 on gas.  H somehow managed to spend $0.  I still don't understand...

    2. Any progress towards goals? We just created our budget for June.  We're tightening things down a lot until H gets his first paycheck in September.  It looks like we'll still be able to meet our debt/savings goals though.

    3. What do you miss from your childhood?  I miss having the summer off!

  • 1. How MM was your weekend?

Friday night went out to dinner for friends birthday.  Dinner and drinks came to about $90.

Saturday I picked up some things from Target, which came to about $70.

Sunday we were by my parents day most of the day, $0.

    2. Any progress towards goals?

None.  Spring/Summer we seem to go out every weekend, and spend more money than I like.  Need to work on that.

    3. What do you miss from your childhood?

Spending time with my cousins on my grandmas farm.  We were outside playing morning till night.

  • 1. How MM was your weekend? Great!  Spent the budgeted $100 on groceries, then absolutely nothing else.  We got a lot accomplished around the house too, which was awesome.

    2. Any progress towards goals? We went to a couple dealerships to look at trading in our car.  It ended with H e-mailing Dave Ramsey to see his thoughts on us keeping it.  Selling it would put us out of debt 9 months sooner, but the value of the car is still in DR's percentage of what he feels is in a comfortable range for someone to own in items that depreciate in value.  DR also says that if keeping the car you will still be debt free in 2 years or less, then keep it.  Which we would, so H thinks DR would tell us just to keep the car and pay it off.

    3. What do you miss from your childhood?  Not a whole lot honestly.  I had a very rough childhood.

  • 1. How MM was your weekend?

I had plans for it to be really good but we ended up spending $100 in gas (filled up and returned H's parent's car that they let us borrow and our rental car). Also took my mom out for M-day on Friday and it ended up being a little pricey, ~$80. We went to BILs house on Saturday to watch the Bruins and contributed towards take out, ~20. Bought a groupon for $15 and groceries for $50. I really have to try harder to prevent all the food purchases...

    2. Any progress towards goals?

H should get reimbursed for his travel expenses this week so I'm looking forward to that paycheck. Other than that, still setting $ aside for any unexpected closing costs.

    3. What do you miss from your childhood?

I miss being taken care of and the overall lack of responsibilities.

  • 1. How MM was your weekend? We ended up spending more money than we should have because we didn't budget in Mother's Day gifts. Oops! But my husband got overtime on Friday night and I worked and babysat on Saturday, so we made more than we spent so that's always good! :)

    2. Any progress towards goals? Last Monday we send in an offer on a house, Tuesday we found out there was another offer, so we sent in another offer that was higher. We (I impatiently) waited for news and on Friday we got a verbal acceptance! Their broker was out of town until yesterday so today we get their written acceptance and since it's a short sale they are turning in the paperwork to their lender today! We are so excited to finally have an accepted offer. The market is so competitive so finally getting mutual acceptance is so nice. We were also able to put in another nice amount into savings last week.

    3. What do you miss from your childhood? I miss not having any worries other than when do I get to go see my friends.

Congrats on the house! How exciting!
  • 1. How MM was your weekend? Horrible. $62 on a mother's day lunch for my mom, $75 on dinner and drinks with friends and $40 in gas money to get us all over. I am not pleased but I am glad we took a break from the MM and had some fun. It was all budgeted for.

    2. Any progress towards goals? Put another $250 towards H's SL.

    3. What do you miss from your childhood? Being taken care of and the lack of responsibility.

  • 1 - I honestly don't remember it all because we were crazy busy this weekend.  Fri we went out to eat at a restaurant I had a $35 discount for then we went to old navy to get DD a swim suit and DH shorts and spent $10 which was amazing.  Saturday we went to the carnival.  DH had to do an engagement shoot so DD and I went on rides while he was working.  He did get tipped for it which paid for most of what we spent.  Yesterday I spent a gift card at seasonal concepts and got a couple things for the patio and also spent 2 $10 coupons I had at kohl's and jcpenney's.  It was a crazy busy weekend and I'm exhausted today

2 - put about $200 in each of our retirement funds and opened 5 accounts at community america.  now I need to work on closing our accounts at commerce.

3- all the family get togethers.  I feel like things are so different now.  I guess because I have my own family now.  my grandpa has passed away as my uncle.  now my aunt is in a nursing home so the family is a lot smaller than it use to be.

    1. How MM was your weekend? Pretty good- groceries ($140), bought lunch for my parents ($40) and dinner for DH's parents ($40) for Mother's Day. We probably need a new lawn mower, so we priced those out. The cheapest electrical one is $329, but it means that I'm comfortable using it and our old electrical one is over 10 years old.

    2. Any progress towards goals? Nothing new.

    3. What do you miss from your childhood? Summer vacation for sure. DH is a teacher and the girls will be in kindergarten before we know it, so I'll be super sad when I'm at work all day and he's home with them enjoying the nice weather.

  • 1. Bonkers expensive. We got warm-water wetsuits for our dive trip ($380, have been saving up for a while), $70 on dinner and drinks with friends, $30 on Mothers Day cards and flowers, $101 on groceries, $15 on beer. Overall, slightly over budget but able to compensate from other categories.

    2. $200 to the travel fund, $200 to the H's birthday fund (a new Weber grill and dinner out Friday).

    3. I miss daydreaming about what my life would be. I'm totally happy with where I ended up, but loved having all options open as a kid.

    1. How MM was your weekend? Not good, MW allowed me to have my debit card again.  Put $150 in gas, groceries, and lawn supplies on it.  Spent another $80 in cash on flowers etc for the yard.  Then I spent some of my birthday money on me.  I am trying to stretch my birthday money.

    2. Any progress towards goals? Since we got our marriage recognized in the Catholic Church, MW's grandfather gave us $100.  I also paid $50 towards my suit that I put on a credit card.

    3. What do you miss from your childhood? Playing and working on my grandparents farms.  Also the holiday gatherings and reunions.  My sister and I are the oldest grandchildren on both sides and fell into the middle of my dad's extended family.

  • 1. How MM was your weekend? For the first time in a long time, we had a good weekend. I don't think we spent money on anything actually--we had a picnic on Sunday and Saturday we stayed home and worked on the yard. :)

    2. Any progress towards goals? Not much, just stayed on track.

    3. What do you miss from your childhood? I miss spending almost everyday at the beach. I grew up living at my grandma's house which was a block from the beach, and would go there almost everyday after school and on the weekends, so I have lots of memories of the sea.

  • 1. How MM was your weekend?
Not horrible. Quick hair appt $35. Family trip to the zoo (my parents and my sister's family also went) $54. We really need to get a family pass... Lol. Groceries $152. We ate in all weekend so that helped but increased our groceries. Lots of leftovers though so no cooking Monday or today.

    2. Any progress towards goals?
Not really but we received our auto insurance statement since our coverage renews June 1st. We plan to drop our current agent and going elsewhere within the next two weeks.

    3. What do you miss from your childhood?
How long the summers were. How carefree life was. How my parents never looked frazzled or stressed. I hope my children have the same experience...
