How scary is Joe Hill's NOS4A2?
So let me preface this post with the fact that I'm a wimp. I had to stop watching The Walking Dead because I had too many nightmares and was losing sleep. I have read only one book of Joe Hill's before and it was Horns (which I was ok with that level of scary) and I've read a few Stephen King books, some of which also gave me nightmares.
Since I enjoyed Horns, I borrowed NOS4A2 from the library on audio. I started it on my commute last night (of note, my commute is 45 minutes one way of driving by myself through wooded rural areas with no cell reception at points and I work at night in a hospital) and the first chapter freaked me out when that patient grabbed the nurse. I have been death gripped by patients I didn't think were all there and I don't know if it bothered me so much because I'm a nurse and it hits closer to home than some or if it was really that frightening. DH told me that "it's not that scary" and I'm being a wimp. He said the story isn't all in the hospital. He also LOVES SK and Joe Hill and horror movies and such and I'm not sure if I trust him that it's not that scary. So on a scale of 1-10 what would you rate it on the horror scale? And do you think a wimp like me tolerate it?
TIA!
