Sewilson and IslandMonkey

This cycle you are both doing your first IUI right?

Re: Sewilson and IslandMonkey

  • Nope! DH bursted that bubble with a grenade last night.

DH is not ready to move forward at all. We had a long talk/arguement about it. I'm ready and eager to move forward and he is still very very hesitant. We agreed that I would start acupuncture and continue working out(since that is how I cope with anxiety and stress), plus stop OPK's & Temping since I'm pretty regular with ovulating. He feels like I have turned this whole process into a stressful situation and wants us to back off a little.

We haven't agreed on a time frame for when we will start IUI but he knows that if this doesn't work for us then that is our next step.

  • @sewilson33 I'm so sorry your H isn't on board with moving forward.  You know that my H has been this same way about it too, and it's hard.  Very hard.  *Hugs*

I really hope the acupuncture and exercise does the trick and you won't have to worry about moving forward at all.

  • @sgautschi - I've never done acupuncture but a family friend of ours does it for a living and is going to recommend someone near me.

@abt8113 & @brij2006 - thanks! Hopefully this will help us move forward.

  • @sewilson33 - I really hope the acu & exercise is what does the trick for you. I'm sorry your husband isn't on board with moving forward with IUI yet.

As for me, this will be my 3rd attempt at IUI as the first was 2 cycles. I don't have much hope though because I tend to have procrastinating ovaries which don't do anything and then over respond. My first IUI was cancelled because I went from zero follies to 10 overnight. My second IUI was triggered 3 days early in the hopes that only one or two of 7 would mature. So, not much hope for this one. Per my RE, I'm a great IVF candidate but insurance won't cover it at all until we do 2-4 IUIs.

  • Good luck @islandmonkey8 - I can't imagine the constant disappointment with the IUI's to be easy and I'm sorry you are going through that. The bright side is your insurance covers IVF. Mine has zero IVF coverage.

Thanks! I am very grateful that NJ mandates this coverage. It's still a lot of money for us just to hit our OOP max... which we will most likely hit or damn near hit this cycle.

  • GL this cycle islandmonkey!! I thought you had done IUIs before, but I wasn't 100% sure. It's great that your insurance will cover IVF though if you need to move on to that. FX you don't have to though!

I hope the acupuncture does the trick sewilson! I've heard great things about it, and wasn't there someone on here who got there BFP after getting acupuncture treatment? FX!

  • You ladies are breaking my heart!

@Sewilson33, I'm so sorry YH keeps balking at moving forward. I really hope he gets on the same page as you very soon, but that the acu and continued exercise help you in the meantime.

@Islandmonkey8, I'm a little annoyed that your coverage mandates so many IUIs before IVF will be covered. I mean, what does a couple with major MFI do in that situation? It's just wasted time. BUT, I guess I'd also be grateful for it being an option at all, so there's that. I really hope your dr finds the right combination for you this time and you get just the right number of mature follies to trigger. I'm crossing everything you guys get a good shot finally!

We have to do IUI because I don't have DOR and DH doesn't have MFI. If we did, we could go straight to IVF. But because the problem is just that I don't ovulate, insurance wants all lesser means tried first before IVF. It makes sense to me, but because of the way I've been responding, it is hard.

Oh gotcha. That does make sense then. I thought the IUIs before IVF mandate was an across-the-board type of thing, but at least they take individual situations into account. Doesn't make getting through them any easier though, with the way your body acts.  :-<
