Re: NOTD - Party of Five version

  • Julia and Charlie I like.

    Sarah I don't mind, I just know A LOT of Sarah's.
    Griffin is okay

Owen & Daphne - Not my style

imageMags's book recommendations, liked quotes, book clubs, book trivia, book lists (read shelf)

TTC 19 months ~Started RE in March 2014~
DH was not ready for IUI so we waited
    ~Started acupuncture in  May 2014~

    ~~
    BFP 7/6/14~~~EDD 3/14/15~~It's a girl!!~~
  • I think they're all decent, but the only one I would consider would be Owen. I like Daphne a lot but won't use it. I know way too many Sarah's to consider it and my parent's cat is Juliet but I frequently call her Julie/Julia/Jules, so it's a cat name to me :)

  • Girls:
Julia - Meaning: "youthful". Origin: Latin - No
Sarah - Meaning: "princess". Origin: Hebrew - If we have twin girls this is the name we've chose for one. lol (yeah, we discuss a lot of what if's).  There would be Lilly Ann and Sarah Lynne.  That's the only way we would use Sarah though.
Daphne - Meaning: "laurel tree, bay tree". Origin: Greek - Makes me think of Scooby Doo.

    Boys:
Charlie - Meaning: "free man". Origin: English - I like this, but like the Charles version better.
Griffin - Meaning: "strong lord". Origin: Welsh, variation of Griffith - Meh
Owen - Meaning: "young warrior, well-born". Origin: Welsh - Overused

Sarah was on our list for awhile, but we've kind of gone away from it. I like Julia, but Jim would probably say no.

    I do not like Daphne.

Charlie, Owen and Griffin are names that I do not hate, but would not ever use for my own child.

  • Owen and Sarah are nice but a bit too common for me. I'm not a fan of Julia or Daphne at all. Charlie and Griffin are really cute.

    Julia - Cute, but NMS.
Sarah - I know way too many, so nope.
Daphne - This is on my list, but there are others ahead of it, so it wouldn't get used.

Charlie - As a nn for Charles, yes. Charles is on the list because that's my grandfather's name.
    Griffin - NMS.
Owen - All I can think of is Owen Wilson, and I really don't like him. So, nope.

Is it flameful that I really like Charlie for a girl?

"I DO NOT love that you think so many things revolve around you.  I know you're bitter.  I get it.  But I'm over your feelings." The best person on the internet ever!
  • Is it flameful that I really like Charlie for a girl?
One of my college friends was dead set a while back on using the name Charlie whether she had a boy or a girl. As a given name. I think that can be cute while they're young, but I don't think most adults want to be called something with the "-ie" or "-y" ending that sounds like a nn once they're in a professional workplace.

  • I really like both Daphne and Griffin, but I'm not sure I'd actually use either one for a kid.

Sarah - my twin sister's name is Sara (without the 'h), so nope!
Julia - I've got 2 aunt Julie's, so even if I liked this one it would be out.

Owen - it's fine, but getting way too popular
Charlie - see above. Good as a nn, but would never use it as a given name.

To make you feel my love.
  • I don't mind any of them.

Is it flameful that I really like Charlie for a girl?
Not at all! I have a family member named Charlene but we have always called her Charlie (or Chuck.. lol) so I initially think of a girl when I hear "Charlie" :) Plus, it's a main girl character on the show Revolution

In Christ alone my hope is found. He is my LIGHT, my STRENGTH, and my SONG!
