Reading Lottery: The Story Sisters - Alice Hoffman *NS*

I struggled with whether to create a SP or NO SP post for this.  I decided on no spoilers as more would maybe open it and be able to experience this beautiful book.

The magical realism subtly tied throughout this book is a huge part of what sold it to me.  Being an only child, I'm very drawn to stories about the sisterhood bond.  I loved reading about the Story sisters and learning each of their personalities.  The story definitely took some turns I didn't expect.  I found myself crying more than I thought I would too but it was worth it.

The jacket or Goodreads summary does it no justice.  I want to talk spoilers but I can't.  I did get worried at one point they were going to delve into some uncomfortable waters but it didn't end up happening.

I'm so glad for Reading Lottery because I may have never picked this up but I'll definitely check out more of her work.

  • I'm so glad that you liked it! I came upon this book purely by chance (for sale shelf at the library) and ended up loving it. It earned a permanent place on my bookshelf.
