  • Yeah, I'm sorry, but any time someone starts messing with the spelling of "normal" names for no freaking reason, that earns a big fat side-eye from me. If you like the way a name sounds, just freaking spell it the way it's meant to be spelled! I get variations in spelling based on French/Italian/etc adaptations (ie, Isabelle vs Isobel), but there is no call for throwing random y's and z's and apostrophes around because you want your kid's name to stand out.

My name is a common name spelled differently, and I love it! I'm going to be one of those parents with slightly different names. Because I just hate that my name is so freaking common! I'm not going to make up names though. They are still names that you can recognize.

  • Every day I have to spell out S-A-R-A for people or else they spell it with a f'ing h. I just can't with folks who intentionally choose to make their children spell out their names every time they talk to someone new. My name isn't even yoo'neek! Come onnnn.

That's funny because I always have to say "Sarah with an h" and I still get people who leave it off!

  • Sara's unite! I hated never being able to find notepads or pencil spelling it without an h. It got to the point that I just accepted it either way and now have certificates from events with both spellings.
