~Getting Healthy Check In~

I'm starting, or rather restarting, this thread because I think it's pretty useful and relevant for a lot of ladies on GP. Whether you are really into fitness or really AREN'T and need lots of motivation, this thread will be where we can commisserate and provide support and can celebrate your successes!

1) What are your fitness goals?

2) How has your progress been this week?

3) What is your "plan" (diet, workout regime, etc)?

4) Best part of your week?

5) Worst part of your week?

QOTW: How do you stay motivated when you just. don't. WANNA?

  • 1) What are your fitness goals? Lose 45 lbs.

    2) How has your progress been this week? I'm down 2 lbs but that is a fluke lol.

    3) What is your "plan" (diet, workout regime, etc)? Body by Vi, treadmill/walking workouts. Slow and steady with the exercise or else I get frustrated and stop.

    4) Best part of your week? The Body by Vi shakes have a bazillion ideas and are delicious!

    5) Worst part of your week? Whyyyyyyy can't I just POOF and be skinny?

QOTW: How do you stay motivated when you just. don't. WANNA? I haven't really mastered this yet but I'm sure @Xan921, @aimothy, or @brij2006 would have good tips!

  • @amandaf6383 - Love this! Thanks for starting it!

    1) What are your fitness goals? I'd like to lose 10-15lbs and build up my strength and tone.

    2) How has your progress been this week? Last week? I was okay, I did cardio almost every day but not enough, only 15 - 30 mins a day and this weekend we were organizing so I did no cardio at all.

    3) What is your "plan" (diet, workout regime, etc)? Diet - protein and veggies. Cut out junk foods, eat more fruits.
Workout - trail walks, elliptical, stationary bike, push ups, hiking.
I want to stick to at least 4 days a week of exercise, any less and I will lose motivation.

    4) Best part of your week? Getting very tipsy on Saturday with one of my GF at dinner. It was the first time I let myself drink and have fun in months. I think I deserved it.

    5) Worst part of your week? Missing Thurs, Fri, Sat and Sun work out because we were swamped with plans and cleaning.

QOTW: How do you stay motivated when you just. don't. WANNA?
I got the dog into a bit of a routine so when we miss going on a trail walk in the evening you find him sitting by the front door or he starts walking himself down the driveway. He guilt trips you into it. Smart puppy
Other than that I know that exercise is my way to let stress go. After I workout whether it be 20 mins or 50 mins I feel less stressed and that feeling of letting go is addictive.

  • I should do this. I need to get back to where I was before 3T. 3 years ago I lost 45 lbs and kept it off for 2 years, then 3T and the associated stress came and I'm back up 25 lbs. I keep trying to get back on track and then something stresses me out and I skip the gym and eat instead.

    1) What are your fitness goals? Lose 15lbs, ideally 20. Get back in shape and stay that way.

    2) How has your progress been this week? I was supposed to go to the gym yesterday but instead spent a hour mowing the lawn. I count that as exercise as we don't have a self-propelled mower. My plan is to either go to the gym tonight or do 30 Day Shred. I want to get to the gym/do 30 day Shred, at least 3-4 times this week.

    3) What is your "plan" (diet, workout regime, etc)? I would do WW, but it's not in the budget so I'm working on a My Fitness Pal/WW crossover thing. Counting calories some, but using the nutrional elements of WW.

    4) Best part of your week? It's only Monday! So, mowing the lawn? lol

    5) Worst part of your week? I don't have the motivation right now to do what I say I'm going to do tonight.

QOTW: How do you stay motivated when you just. don't. WANNA? I try to think of what I accomplished in the past. When I put my mind to weight loss the last time I got it done and was in the best physical shape of my life. I try to think of how happy I was with myself then and use that for motivation to do what I need to do now. It isn't as easy this time with all the stress of 3T on my shoulders.

    1) What are your fitness goals? Lose 50 lbs. I almost got down to my goal weight before our wedding, sticking to a low-carb diet. Kept it off for a while, regained it due to stress eating this past year.

    2) How has your progress been this week? Haven't looked at a scale, but I'm on track for my workouts, so that's good.

    3) What is your "plan" (diet, workout regime, etc)? I'm focusing on exercise to start. Working through C25K (3x per week), plus 2 hours of Krav Maga once a week. Soon I'll go back to a low-carb diet, that's worked really well for me in the past.

    4) Best part of your week? I did a trial Pilates class on Friday and really liked it, might look into continuing.

    5) Worst part of your week? Eating too much junk on the weekend.

QOTW: How do you stay motivated when you just. don't. WANNA? Badges. Not joking. I'm involved in Girlguiding, and badge motivated. AND there's badges for adults. So I'm working towards a "Fit for Life" one, that keeps me going.

@Beelu - I did the same thing! I got down to way below my pre-wedding weight and once the holidays hit and we hit out 1 year mark of TTC it all came back and some! Stress eating is the worst ever!

  • 1) What are your fitness goals? I want to lose 15 lbs and gain some muscle. I also want to consume less processed foods and drink less alcohol.

    2) How has your progress been this week? Really good, my husband is out of town, so that helps with keeping junk food out of the house.

    3) What is your "plan" (diet, workout regime, etc)? I'm doing the Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred and trying to eat 100% plant-based foods.

    4) Best part of your week? Graduating to Level 2 of the Shred.

    5) Worst part of your week? Well, I just scarfed down a half a bag of snap pea crisps, because I forgot to bring fruit with me today?

QOTW: How do you stay motivated when you just. don't. WANNA? Not so good at this.

  • 1) What are your fitness goals? My first big goal is to lose 86 lbs. Once I hit that goal, I will decide how much farther I want to go.

    2) How has your progress been this week? It has been good. I've felt really good and lost another 3 lbs.

    3) What is your "plan" (diet, workout regime, etc)? I'm using My Fitness Pal(MFP) to track my calories and trying to stay between 1600-1800 for my calories. I'm also using my Fitbit Flex to help my stay on target for calories burned each day. My goal is to do 20-30 minutes of cardio 2 to 3 times a week. It seems to be working so far.

    4) Best part of your week? Seeing a 3 lb loss on the scale!

    5) Worst part of your week? Had chips and guacamole at a mexican restaurant over the weekend and my tummy was not ok with it.

QOTW: How do you stay motivated when you just. don't. WANNA? My food diary on MFP keeps me pretty well motivated because I hate seeing that I have gone over my limit. I have also made a list for "non-food weight loss rewards." I get my first reward once I hit 15 lbs and then it goes every 10 lbs from there.

  • 1. I want to drop another 35-45 pounds for a total of 70-80 2. I exercised and kept below my calorie limit over the weekend, but today I caved to a muffin at work. 3. Im mostly dairy/soy free and using my fitness pal. We are trying to walk/bike/hike or kayak almost every night 4. Yesterday we took a nice little hike 5. I guess caving to that muffin QOTW: DH is really good at keeping me motivated.

    1) What are your fitness goals? My "immediate" goal is to lose 60 pounds by my 40th birthday in February. I'm down 21 so far. I'd love to lose another 20-40 after that.

    2) How has your progress been this week? Pretty good. I'm on holidays at my sister's, so there's been a little bit of cheating, but it hasn't been really bad.

    3) What is your "plan" (diet, workout regime, etc)? I've been drinking the Body by Vi shakes since March 8th, and I've been doing some walking. I need to walk more regularly.

    4) Best part of your week? Spending time with my nieces (I know, that's not health related, but it's the best part)

    5) Worst part of your week? A bit of cheating.

QOTW: How do you stay motivated when you just. don't. WANNA? I'm not very good at this.  It helps when DH and I are both watching our weight and exercising.

QOTW: How do you stay motivated when you just. don't. WANNA? "Tomorrow will be better" is something I've lived by since I've started this whole weight loss mission.  I do let myself mess up once in a while but immediately say "Tomorrow will be better" and I make sure it's better.  I don't ever let one bad day turn into two bad days, turn into a week, etc.  One day is all I get and then I'm right back to it because I have to.  I want a baby and I have to lose weight for that.  I want to live a long healthy life and I have to lose weight for that.  I want to wear smaller size clothes and I have to lose weight for that.  This isn't an optional thing for me anymore, it's a 'have to' and that's enough to keep me going even when I don't feel like it anymore.
I love love love this because it is so very true! We all have crappy days where we over-eat or don't work out or just make bad decisions but it's so important to remind yourself that one bad day doesn't mean giving up.

    1) What are your fitness goals? I would love to be a size 12. And pregnant.

    2) How has your progress been this week? I'm trying to get myself back in to the mindset that I need to do what I need to do.  I'm struggling with going back to the gym because I'm supposed to still be on restriction at the gym.  But I've been at the gym four times in the last week, so I'll call that a win right now.

    3) What is your "plan" (diet, workout regime, etc)?
I'm an emotional eater. Right now, I'm just surviving.

    4) Best part of your week?
We had a great date night on Saturday night. Which was not healthy at all....but totally what we needed.
    5) Worst part of your week? Everything else?  Missing my babies

QOTW: How do you stay motivated when you just. don't. WANNA? I am not a good example of this lately, but I really think about our babies a lot when I am working out.  There is nothing more that I need in this world, so when I get lazy/down on myself, I say, "Fine. I'll go to the gym. But only for 30 minutes. And only because I woudln't want my baby to be a quitter."

I also highly recommend taking pictures.  Not that you have to share them here (not everyone is as narcissistic as I), but they were so motivating to keep me going. There was so often I would feel like nothing was changing, and putting two pictures side by side made me realize what "little" I was doing at the gym was making a difference.

    1) What are your fitness goals?
I want to lose about 50 lbs.
    2) How has your progress been this week?

So far so good.  We went on a 2 hour hike yesterday.  My legs are so achy today, but it felt great to get some fresh air, and a work out.

    3) What is your "plan" (diet, workout regime, etc)?

Exercise/walk at least 3 times a week.  I buy more fruit and veggies to eat and snack on, and don't remember the last time I bought junk food.  Cook healthy meals, instead of going out to eat.

    4) Best part of your week?

I was shocked to see I lost 2 more lbs when I stepped on the scale yesterday, 8 total.  Last week my diet went out the window.  Being an emotional eater is not easy!

    5) Worst part of your week?

Take out 3 days in a row, but I am back on track now.

QOTW: How do you stay motivated when you just. don't. WANNA?

I count on DH to push me.

    1) What are your fitness goals? To lose 5-10lbs and tone my body

    2) How has your progress been this week? Good so far. Tomorrow might be another story though.

    3) What is your "plan" (diet, workout regime, etc)? I'm doing a healthy habits challenge which focuses on diet and fresh foods. I'm just trying to eat more natural, non processed foods and less sweets. I'm trying to do some kind of exercise daily; Zumba 2xwk, strength training, as well as walking daily.

    4) Best part of your week? So far? I got up this morning and worked out! Yay me!

    5) Worst part of your week? Zumba getting cancelled today. I didn't eat very healthy this weekend since it was my birthday.

QOTW: How do you stay motivated when you just. don't. WANNA? This challenge is really making me motivated because I want to get my points and win the 500 dollars. I also don't want my future children to struggle with an eating disorder like it did. I'm trying to get these healthy habits down, so they won't see my struggle when they are here.

  • 1) What are your fitness goals?  To beat my half marathon time this fall, and for my body to keep having regular cycles.

    2) How has your progress been this week? Good. Bootcamp, running, no gluten.  The usual.

    3) What is your "plan" (diet, workout regime, etc)? Bootcamp class M, W, F, Running T, Th, Sat. Rest or yoga on Sunday.
    Gluten Free/PCOS diet.

    4) Best part of your week?  Prepping and freezing GF/PCOS friendly soups (3 stock pots full) for lunches to save money and know what is in my food.
Also bumped up to the 18lb medicine ball at bootcamp class.  Started at an 8lb ball in December.  That thing is going to be the death of me!

    5) Worst part of your week?  Watching everyone have delicious lasagna and homemade garlic bread that I slaved over all day.  Just for me to burn my GF batch of lasagna and try to choke it down.  Also not having wine with said lasagna.  :-(  Sad panda.

QOTW: How do you stay motivated when you just. don't. WANNA?  *Narcissist warning*  I look at myself in the mirror and remind myself of how that body used to look before, and how much hard work it took to get where I am now.
I also use running as more of a mental time than anything.  So if I'm feeling sad or angry about 3T, then I go for a run and pray/cry/get angry.  It helps me with a lot of the anxiety and anger our loss has brought, and I come back from a run a much happier person.
