New Construction home Inspection…

We have our final walk-thru inspection in a couple of weeks and the Maronda Homes representative said that during the inspection we will not go into the attic and inspect it.  He reported that the borough already inspected it and signed off on it.   Is this normal not to go into the attic and take a look around?

The attic is not usable so we cannot store things in it.  The attic has a bunch of foam insulation that was sprayed in.  How would anyone know if there was a leak or if they did a good job sealing the attic?

Any other things to look for in the inspection?  I know that I want to make sure that water is properly draining from the yard/house.

Maybe I’m just overly paranoid…

I would hire an outside (not from the builder) inspector.  They will inspect everything (including the attic) and let you know if there are any problems.

Definitely hire an independent home inspector - they may not like you doing this, but it is your right.
