We are not going on vacation this year =(, so I am trying to fill our summer up with other fun stuff and am looking for ideas. Any fun plans for this summer?
Re: Summer Plans?
we hope to make it to Idlewild and/or Kennywood (any thoughts on this from other moms? both kids were able to ride a ton of stuff last year at Idlewild....will they be really limited at Kennywood?)
We also hope to go mini golfing at some point and go to Wildwood Highlands for the bumper boats and go-carts! Meghan-they're having some deals throughout weekends in the summer, ride all night passes, dinner specials, etc...maybe check out their site for those?

We generally try to do a mini trip each month. In June, DH & the kids are going to NJ to visit family at the beach for a long weekend. In July we go camping for a long weekend. In August, I think we’re going to Erie for a long weekend. We also go to the zoo, Children’s Museum, city pool, jazz in the park, have dinner at a local playground, Pirates game, Kennywood, Idlewild, etc.
Really, there are more things to do than we can possibly squeeze into one summer. I find that DH and I have issues because he wants to squeeze in every. activity. possible. And I need some quiet downtime at home to maintain my sanity. It’s a balancing act.
Emmy – The kids like Kennywood. Last year they were both tall enough for the Jack Rabbit and I think Heather will add a couple more roller coasters this year. There are also lots of non-coasters, plus Kiddieland. The only hard thing is when DH and I want to ride something that the kids can’t go on (e.g. The Swings). I don’t ride coasters, so it is a minor issue. But it does seem to help to go with other people – other families or friends without kids – so you can swap based on who does or doesn’t want to go on each ride.
Other than that I have an annual work trip in June for 4 days. And the girls have a couple camps that will keep them busy from the usual routine of going to the pool. No other trips planned right now although we may sneak a weekend in somewhere.

Our big plans are an Alaskan cruise in August with the kids. I booked excursions for it last month, so now I'm getting really excited for the trip.
I got sandcastle season passes for $25 each before Christmas, so I'm hoping for good weather on my Fridays off to take the boys swimming.
We're also planning lots of weekends at the lake with friends and family.
