GTKY: Why TN?

What made you come to The Nest?

If you came over from The Knot, what made you come to The Knot?

Ok I get the whole, planning a wedding part, I mean how did you find TK/TN and what did you like about it to stay?

I came over from the Knot.  I was too lazy to look for something else.

I don't really like the Nest, but I love my ladies. <3

I was on TK and just headed over here.  I tried to get involved with TK, but those ladies are sticks-in-the-mud.  You ladies keep it interesting and are full of knowledge.   :-c

  • I found TK when I was googling wedding stuff and it brought me to TK store. I didn't interact in the message boards there at all really. I mostly just used the planning tools and created a wedding website.

After my wedding date had passed, TK sent me to TN. I found the message boards and lurked awhile before finally introducing myself to all of you lovely ladies! I browse a few other message boards but don't actively contribute to them.

  • My best friend was on TK when she was planning her wedding a few years before me, and she recommended it to me. I joined, and became pretty active on my local and anniversary boards, as well as the DIY board. I joined TN before I got married for the local board's book club, but they strayed to fb. I found NBC, and then started posting on GP.

  • I'm sure I found TK due to a yahoo or google search shortly after I got engaged in '04. I want to say they launched TN shortly after I got married, but I was still very active on my local Knot board and we all refused to move to TN for awhile. Finally, all of us OMHs (old married hags) got tired of wedding talk and jumped to TN where I hung out on the local board for a couple years. I started lurking on this board in 2007 because I had BOTB, then in early 2008, I created this anonymous SN so I could start posting here.

And now y'all are stuck with me... and it's pathetic that I've been at least lurking on GP since 2007... *sigh*. Almost as pathetic as the fact that I've now officially been on TK/TN since 2004. Holy cow, I just realized that's 10 years...

In Christ alone my hope is found. He is my LIGHT, my STRENGTH, and my SONG!

T-TTC since Dec 2008. PCOS/nonexistant cycles(anovulation) and endo. HSG in '10 revealed both tubes blocked. Lap surgery in Dec '10 to correct. Failed Clomid/IUI and injectable(Bravelle)/IUI cycles so far.

  • I have no idea how I found TK, but it was obviously during planning my wedding back in 2008. I read the articles and used some of the planning tools, but never got involved on the boards.

I bumped over to TN right after we got married, had a horrible first posting experience on the ML board (mostly thanks to my laptop glitching out and posting my intro (partially) half a dozen times while I was trying to type it out), and left TN alone for a while after that. I came back in early 2011 for the Pets board, started lurking on GP soon after, and finally start posting after we'd been actively trying for about 6 months.

  • I came to TN after getting married and carrying over from TK.

My friend referred me to TK while planning our wedding.

I actually started out on the BNOTB board, because it was right after our first loss before our wedding and I was pretty sure I didn't want kids for a long time. Then I started getting active on the Money Matters board and lurked here for over 6 months before posting.  I liked that this board was actually active outside of just what the board was about.

I was on TK and pretty active on my local board. I posted a few times on my anniversary board but it was hard to keep up. I came over to TN after the wedding and was sort of active on my local and anniversary boards but life got crazy and I was an irregular poster at best. People recognized me but didn't "know" me if that makes sense... Then I found NBC and couldn't NOT be active. :) Came over here when we started TTC.

  • I started browsing around TK when I was engaged for the first time... once that relationship went down the tubes, I forgot about it until H and I decided to get married. Went back and since we weren't really doing a traditional wedding and all that nonsense, I jumped over to TN and here I stayed. TA-DA!

  • Like most everybody else, I transferred over from TK. I don't even remember how I found TK, but I started on there when I was married the first time (although not very active), and then went back again for my wedding with DH. I was bumped over to TN, and noticed that my local board was dead, my anniversary board moved to FB, and since we have been TTC since around the time that I was bumped over to TN, thought that GP seemed like a great group! I've lurked over on TB for the infertility and 3T boards, but have never felt like that was a good fit. Like Brij said, I like that this board talks about a lot of different things besides TTC.

  • I started with TK shortly after our engagement, but didn't stay there long.  I found it to be pretty boring.

Came over to TN, posted on the local board for a bit, but the board got very quiet once TN started making some changes.  And now here I am.

  • I used TK after a Google search. When we started realizing we were having trouble, I lurked on GP for about two months before jumping in (we were headed to the RE when I joined - I was terrified of getting flamed for freaking about having trouble after 11 months...I miss that naïveté). I changed my name from TK to TN because I was active on my local board on TK. Why TN? Easier to transition.
