Re: What did you read in MAY?

  • The Truth About Alice - Jennifer Mathieu
Side Effects May Vary - Julie Murphy
More Than Music - Elizabeth Briggs
    The Outsiders - S.E. Hinton
I'm at 23/52, so I'm right on track.

  • Make You Blush (#0.5) by Macy Beckett - 4 stars
Make You Mine (#1) by Macy Beckett - 4 stars
Blue Dahlia (#1) by Nora Roberts - 3.5 stars
Black Rose (#2) by Nora Roberts - 3.5/4 stars (haven't decided)

I'm really excited about the new series from Macy Beckett and can't wait to read book 2. I hope there will be more after that but Goodreads only has those for now.

I love NR's trilogies but this one isn't as good so far. I'm enjoying it but it's not pulling me in like her books usually do.

  • The Picture of Dorian Gray- Oscar Wilde 2 stars
Sybil- Flora Rheta Schreiber 4.5 stars
The Atlantis Plague- A.G. Riddle 4 stars
And Then There Were None- Agatha Christie 4 stars
The Attachments- Rainbow Rowell 4 stars

This puts me at 34 books for the year. My original goal was 40 but I bumped it up to 52. I'm still ahead of schedule.

  • This month kind of flew by. I have no idea what I read. I'm going to say it was all the free books and all the autographed books I got at the RT Convention.
I write sexy books. I read all the books. I love dresses & macarons.

  • Reconstructing Amelia, Kimberly McCreight - 3*
The Sense of an Ending, Julian Barnes - 3*
    Flat-Out Love, Jessica Park - 4*
The Westing Game, Ellen Raskin - 3*
    Calculating God, Robert J. Sawyer - 5*
And She Was, Allison Gaylin - 4*

That puts me at 37 for the year.  I set a low goal of 40 for this year, after not meeting last year's goal and knowing how busy I'd be.  But I've been listening to audio books while I work out, and that has made all the difference (if it weren't for audiobooks I'd only have 12 books read).  I'm going to bump up my goal to 52.
  • I hit a major reading slump in May and only read 5 books.  I am at 33/50 for the year so I'm still 13 books ahead of schedule.

The King by J.R. Ward-3 stars

Growing Up Duggar by the Duggar sisters-1 star

Winter Fire by Kathy Fischer-Brown-3 stars

  • I had a really good month - 7 books in one month is unheard of for me!  And I gave 4 of them 5 stars, so either I've gotten more liberal with my ratings, or I'm just picking good books lately.

    Joyland - Stephen King - 5 stars
    Mr. Penumbra's 24 Hour Bookstore - Robin Sloan - 5 stars
Five Days at Memorial - Sheri Fink - 3 stars
The Silver Linings Playbook - Matthew Quick - 4 stars
Letter to my Daughter - Maya Angelou - 5 stars
Radiance of Tomorrow - Ishmael Beah - 5 stars
Coyote Blue - Christopher Moore - 4 stars

I've read 26 for the year.  I didn't have a real goal, but was hoping to just read more than last year's 30.  Looks like that's going to happen easily.
  • A World Away by Nancy Grossman 3 stars
Something Blue by Emily Griffin 4 stars
Crossed by Allie Connie 2 stars
The Wolf of Wall Street by Jordan Belfort 2 stars
Winter's Bone by Daniel Woodrell 3 stars

17/52 which puts me 4 behind.
I'm having a hard time catching up because I've been reading books I don't love. June is going to be a better month!

  • I was blessed with a great reading month! Out of 6 books 5 of them were 5 stars and the 6th one was 4 stars.

The Diary of a Young Girl: Otto Frank and Miriam Pressler: 5 stars
    Once: Morris Gleitzman: 5 stars
    Then: Morris Gleitzman: 5 stars
    Now: Morris Gleitzman: 4 stars
This Is Where I Leave You: Jonathan Tropper: 5 stars
    After: Morris Gleitzman: 5 stars

I have read 28 out of 55 books so far (6 books ahead of schedule). I put my goal lower this year because I can't spend as much time reading since I have other projects that need to get done, but it looks like I may have to up the goal anyway.  :)
