Are you afraid of bugs?

Re: QOTD 6/2

  • oh yeah...but stupid ones like ladybugs and butterflies.  My mom's house once had an infestation of ladybugs when I was little so I've been nervous around them ever since. I think opening a drawer and finding ladybugs in my clothes is the culprit!

My hair used to be really long and I was paranoid a bug would land in there and get lost...bugs are the enemy.

  • Not a fan of the creepy crawlers!

  • It depends what they are. I've encountered enough spiders and ants in the rental house to not be as weirded out by them anymore. Bees and things with stingers, however, are still enough to send me into a panic.
The one day I was home early from work and was talking on the phone with my mom. I looked up at our light fixture and noticed a black spot. Thought nothing of it until it started flying and buzzing. I sat in our entry way of the house until H came home. :-(

  • Just bees.  I freak out if a bee is within 5 feet of me.  F bees!

  • Spiders - oh hell no!

  • I hate most bugs, except the pretty ones like butterflies.  I think the only ones I'm afraid of are spiders and bees.  And scorpions if you consider them bugs.

Side note - obviously not a bug, but yesterday I was walking into our living room and there was a tiny garden snake just hanging out like no big deal.  I made H get it and put it outside, which brought out his inner fear of snakes because he was freaking out more than me!  lol

  • I'm not afraid of them, but I'm not a huge fan. Now, snakes are another story. I would lose my shit if there were a snake in my house!

  • I'm with Seipel. Most bugs are okay, but I am so scared of bees!! Last week my office was really stuffy so I opened the window, and a bee flew in. I freaked out in front of my patient - so embarrassing! - and he killed it for me. LOL, my hero!

  • Overall, I am not a fan.  I hate centipedes.  They creep me out so much.  Not a fan of stink bugs either.   I have these house crickets in my apartment and they scare the daylights out of me.  I dislike creepy crawlies.  I did a project with my class in April and we needed earthworms and I was freaking out holding the sealed container of the worms.  Forget about what I did when I opened the container and they were standing up.

I'm not one to run when a bee comes near me.  I enjoy ladybugs, butterflies and fizzy caterpillars.
  • I dislike all bugs! If I see even the smallest bug in the house I calmly call to H "there's a situation in here you need to address " and make him flush it so I know it's gone and not going to come back to life in the garbage and seek revenge :-). My parents were up this weekend for my shower and my dad happened to be closer then H so he got called over lol.
  • I generally don't like them. Spiders and centipedes are the worst! Why do you need that many legs?

  • I'm not a fan either but I don't usually freak out or anything.

The reason this question came up is because I got in the shower yesterday and there is a spider on the shower curtain checking me out. What a perv. He is now in the sewer somewhere.

Nope, I think they're neat and "investigate" them usually... again, can you tell I'm a science teacher?

ALSO, Please don't kill bees, they are actually an at risk species now which is a HUGE problem seeing as they pollinate most of our crops. This winter was especially hard on them, over 50% of the bee population died! we have bees...like on purpose, in a cute little box in our yard, and this year they all died:((

We had a tractor trailer overturn with something like 16 million bees that released... I think my area is good right now on the bee population.

  • Actual sign on 95 about 10 miles from where I live.

With bees, I don't bother them if they don't bother me. Spiders I will have killed everytime...
