Outlander Series

I just got my schedule through September and I have to work the day Outlander premieres. The only person who could switch with me is on vacation that week. I am super sad about this. Also, no one I know IRL is at all excited about the show. DH said he will watch it with me but I am worried he will mock the story line/characters and I will get all ragy about it. Will you be watching it with your sig o?
I look forward to discussing it with you ladies but am sad that I'll be behind in watching it.

    That sucks!
I excitedly told mh that I couldn't wait for him to meet Jamie and Claire. We had a full conversation before he realised they weren't real people but characters.
Looks like I'll be behind with you. The jerks aren't airing the show in Canada until the 24th. Which is stupid beyond belief.
  • I don't have cable so I'm working out to deal with my Mom.  She'll get the Starz for the 3ish months and I'll split it with her.  Fair deal, I think.  Even more so since we both adore the series and J just wouldn't get it like she would.

I'll more than likely watch it with mh but I've told him that I'll glue his mouth shut if he makes fun of it.

  • I think I'm going to banish everyone from the room when I watch this. I don't think my husband would get that into it.  He did kind of get into The White Queen though so maybe he would like Outlander.  He is one of those people who talks during the show and asks questions about what's going on.  It drives me nuts.  Dude we're watching the same show.  I don't have any more information than you.

  • We would have to make a pretty significant investment into our cable system to get Starz (get a box, upgrade to digital, and then pay for the premium channel), and I've been advocating for getting rid of cable entirely, so we're trying to work something out with my ILs.

Does anyone know if Starz has the equivalent of HBOgo, so that I could stream it at my house on my ILs account?  I have absolutely no interest in watching this series at their house.  If I can't work something out, I'll be waiting for Netflix/Amazon/Hulu streaming to watch it, and will be terribly sad if that has to be the case.
  • @susiebw looks like they do

I will not be watching with DH he would just mock it the whole time and ruin it for me so I will watch by myself.
Our plan is to time it so when we switch cable providers and get 3 months free I can watch it then cancel.

Same here, minus the part about ILs. I hate it that I won't be able to read & participate in all of the posts about this series.

  • We will be watching it together! My H and I listened to the first on our car ride over Christmas. I think he liked the story, even if he was not a fan of Claire, and to be honest, I felt the same after Outlander. It wasn't until the later books that she grew on me. He also thought there was a lot of sex and didn't understand how this wasn't considered a "romance" novel, even with some of the more crazy bits.

I do have to bite my tongue when he asks about things that might happen in the future, but I think he will be good during the show.

  • We'll be watching together. DH values his life, so he knows better than to make fun of it. :P

I honestly think he will like it though.

  • UGH.  I have everything going against me.  DH will hate it, I'll be out of the country for the first two episodes, and...and....yea.

I bet Jamie won't even show up until the second episode.

  • I'm glad I'm not the only one not wanting to watch with DH. He told me he may watch it without me and if he likes it then we can watch it together but so help me god if he mocks Jamie...

OMG this would be awesome. And then all the people watching who haven't read it will be like "WTF? Does this show get better?"

    Ugh.  The 24th?

At least we will still get to see it?  I am thankful that Showcase even has it and that we can watch it online.

  • My husband has agreed to give it a shot after seeing the trailer but I'm not above creating a Sheldon-esque Outlander agreement.

However, he's the guy who falls asleep during GoT so I doubt he'll be awake to say anything. He just better watch the snoring.

Anth said he's going to watch it to. I expect that to last for maybe 8 minutes of the first episode.
