Does North Face ever go on sale?

My heavy duty NF has held strong for years but I think next winter it will be time for an upgrade.

I know some department stores deeply discount winter gear at the end of the season/early spring... but what about North Face?

Does Scheels/Sports Authority, etc ever discount North Face? I don't recall ever seeing them on sale before. I'd love to find one at a % off instead of paying the $350 outright.

Happen to visit Maine? We stop by the Northface Outlet in Freeport, ME when we drive by on trips. They usually have some pretty awesome deals.

The outletmall on 94 btwn MKE and Chicago has a Northface outlet.

Like pp suggested, backcountry.com has good sales and occassionally Moosejaw.com.

Macy's has about 5 different NF coats on sale right now. NF has an outlet website, but I've never shopped on it: http://www.thenorthfaceoutlet.org/

Are you wedded to the North Face brand? I usually find that EMS store brand and LLBean have products that are just as good, at a lower price (and with sales). LLBean has a pretty robust sale section a lot of the time. I just got a new Gore-Tex shell, fleece jacket, and primaloft jacket (the fleece and loft jackets are for different temp ranges and layer under the shell) from LLBean at steep discount. They're last year's color of this year's product

The shell was $149 (regularly $299), and the other layers were $95 (regularly $130).

Our local store that sells North Face never discounts more than 20%. However, if you are near an outlet store - they have great discounts. (I got my 400 coat for 100 on a Memorial Day sale)

Other discount sales outlet often sell the previous year's items for deep discounts as well.

I've seen North Face in the Cabela's bargain cave before. Usually just a few items at a time, but if you keep an eye on you should be able to find something you like. Not sure how discounted they are though.

I really like Moosejaw - they sometimes have codes good for % off of North Face. Also, 6pm.com regularly has sales on North Face items.

I love my NorthFace stuff, but if you're looking for other brand suggestions, I'd also look into Eddie Bauer's stuff in addition to LLBean. For example, I had been eyeing the Girl on the Go trench coat ever since my sister got one for Christmas a couple of years back. Lo and behold, they bought me one for Christmas and, surprisingly, it's been plenty warm in Boston's freezing temps this winter and I've been wearing it as my winter coat. I thought I was just going to use it as a raincoat, but with the removeable ThermaCore lining, it's proving to be much more versatile (wow, can I sound more like an ad?).
