I love my stepdaughters, but I am so thankful their mom is picking them up today! They are really good girls, but they were driving me crazy yesterday!! It's mostly our fault because we've been so busy packing, they haven't been able to do much of anything except watch TV at night. So, they were full of so much energy which translated into getting into trouble. I was really close to loosing it when we got in the car this morning. The youngest spilled a smoothie all over the back seat and didn't say anything. She had already gotten in trouble earlier in the week for spilling bubbles on the floor (which warped the laminate a little) and not saying anything. Having kids really teaches you patience!
I'm so glad DH finally realized he has put on a little weight since our wedding (as did I, been working on it about 5 weeks now) and has started eating better and working out! Before you think I sound like a bitch let me tell you, the guy eats WHATEVER he feels like, 100% of the time. He's still very far from being "fat", so this truly wasn't an aesthetic thing, but heart disease runs in his family and it scares me. His dad had to get a quadruple bypass in his early 50's.
You'll remember I was trying to get DH to try on his swim trunks and shorts before vacation (bc I knew they wouldn't fit). Well finally the night before while we are packing he does it and, lo and behold, nothing fits! So now he is back on the health bandwagon with me! It is SO much easier to do when you have someone trying to make healthier habits WITH you. No one wants to eat a salad next to someone eating chicken wings and beer--at least not every day.
His family is obese and eats dessert with like every meal, and I'm glad he hasn't just resigned himself to that fate. My family is pretty healthy and active and I definitely want our kids to grow up with great examples, so this is a huge relief to me! I'm just so proud of him and am having so much fun trying all these healthy recipes and keeping active with him. We got into this unhealthy slump together in law school and it is such a relief to get out of it FINALLY together.
I never take lunch at work, but today I went to get a pedicure and coffee.
My confession is, i don't feel like working, and now that I'm back at my desk I am on the nest and reading my kindle, shhh

ETA: I meant "great examples" of healthy choices, obviously there are plenty of bigger people who make great parents.
Ever go back and read your own post and think "wow I sound like an ass"? Happens to me about once a week
Evan - I do all the time! I didn't read it that way at all for what it's worth.
My confession - I have a friend who is one of those mommy war person with a side of mommy martyr. Her way is the best way to raise a kid, and it's really really hard. I egg her on a lot just to see how far she will go. Our topic today - pediatrician vs family practice. When she gets really mad she tells me "well you'll see when your lo comes". Eh maybe or maybe not but to me when she says that it means I win. Lol.
Evan, I didn't read it as negative at all. My parents are both obese and I grew up eating tons of junk. It's been very hard to get away from those habits and it's something I still struggle with every day. I think it's best to instill good habits at a young age so they hopefully carry it with them throughout their life, whether it's health related or not.
I bribed H to clean the bathroom with sex because I'm sick of having to clean the bathroom when he makes it dirty within 5 mins after I clean it. H threw a tantrum about withholding sex for chores and complained it was the begining to the end of our sex life because of the baby coming. So he didn't clean the bathroom.
I confess that I just woke up from a three hour nap after I got home from work. I feel bad because apparently H was busting his butt whole time I was out. I needed this after today.
