Teachers come on in... (scratch that, let's discuss again in a month! :)

Now that the school year is over, I'm sure you probably don't want to talk about anything work related, but... I was curious to know your thoughts on the new "Common Core" Standards? Truthfully, I need to read a little more to decide how I feel about it. However, I work with kids with 504 Plans and IEP's in the medical setting, and have heard a few comments in passing (mostly families expressing distaste for them), but I was curious to know how teachers feel about it.

The school year is over? Someone forgot to tell my district. We are still in school until Monday. Ugh! Plus I now have to pack up my classroom because I'm losing my normal size room and will now have to teach music to 20-25 kids at a time in a room half the size.

Anyways, I don't know much about common core being a music teacher. But if the changes our district has gone through this year have anything to do with CC then I think it sucks.
