Can you talk to be about your inspection process?

The buyer had his inspection yesterday. When we got home, everything (in Rubbermaid bins) had been removed from all closets, and various other things were out of place.

I get that they would move stuff that is in their way- but to just leave it out, and not put it back?

We also found wood shavings in our dogs water bowl. Again- I get that you are testing things, but is it too much to ask that you either move the bowl out of your way, or dump the shavings filed water?

Am I expecting too much? What are your experiences?

  • I didn't have any issues when we had our home inspection, but the person doing it was a family friend and it was the house we were buying.

That sounds like they were just lazy.  I'm sorry you had that happen.  I'd offer them a glass of water and put wood shavings in it just to be a bitch.

  • I think they were lazy and just don't care. I have never heard of this and H works in construction. Plus when my parents sold their rent house we didn't have any problems.
  • Ok. I feel better. At least I'm not crazy.

But apparently he told the buyer that there was structural damage. Wtf? I guess even the buyers realtor thought he was a bozo, and she is encouraging the buyer to get a second opinion. Ugh.

When we sold our condo, we couldn't even tell anyone was in it. The same for when we bought the condo and the house, we left everything as we found it. Which I think is how it's supposed to be. Actually now that I'm thinking about it, we had to come back to look at the garage because there was so much in the inspector's way and he didn't want to touch their belongings. That guy just sounds rude.

When my parents had my grandma's house inspected just a few months ago the person that did it was awful! We've been in the process of cleaning out the house and are boxing stuff up  and moving stuff out. Well, they left boxes all over the rooms (where we didn't even have them) and just made a mess of everything. The water heater was wrapped in something and they completely ripped all the wrapping off of it and made it look completely awful! We were pissed when we saw how they left the place.
