@Lauren620

I went to the barre class yesterday...

EVERYTHING HURTS TODAY.

My legs, my abs, my sides, my arms, my butt...everything freaking hurts.

    But will you go back? I need a new class to try.

    I would totally go back.  I wanted something that was going to make me feel like I wanted to die and this definitely did.  I would try a different instructor though.  I don't trust instructors who don't do the exercises along with you.

  • Were you shaking uncontrollable during class?  I am always SO worried that I am going to suddenly not be able to support my weight and just collapse while everyone else was tucking and lifting away.

    Did you like it? Even though I feel like I won't make it through class, I always feel great about myself when I leave and I am excited to go back.

    Instructors can make a big difference in barre classes, so I definitely think it is worth it to try a few out.

  • :(

    I am so sad I couldn't go.

    And I totally agree with the instructor thing.  That is what I love about my Turbo kick instructor.  She gives it 110% every single time.  She is insane!

    YES.  She kept saying, "Put your leg out as straight as possible," while I was thinking,"Yea, that's not happening."  I could NOT stop the shaking.

    There were also a couple of times when we were down on a mat and she was telling us to tuck while we were on our backs and I had no clue how to go about doing that.

    Did you like it? Even though I feel like I won't make it through class, I always feel great about myself when I leave and I am excited to go back.

    I DID like it and I think I'll go back with another instructor though.  I got a little snippy with her actually.  She was at another bar behind me, telling everyone what to do, and I couldn't see what she was doing.  She came over to tell me I was doing it all wrong and I said I couldn't see what she had been doing and she responded, "Well, can you hear me?"  I got annoyed and said, "Yes, but this is my first time here and I don't understand what you're trying to tell us to do.  I need to see it."

  • @MrsJenE  Eww, no.  I would not want someone to talk to me like that during my first class or really any class.  My first instructor actually came up to me and helped me get into the right positions if I was having trouble.  She would very discreetly help me push my shoulders back or rotate my leg so I had the right technique.  It was actually really helpful and I didn't feel like she was calling me out.  Once you figure out the different moves it isn't hard to follow their verbal instructions, but you have to learn first!

    I really want to do a barre challenge one of these days, but I think it would be so much better if I was thinner before I start one.  You can feel a difference after a few classes, so I think if I was thinner I would see results quicker too.
