Housewarming Question!

Hi Nesters!!!

My husband and I just closed on our first home  at the end of May. Over the past couple of weeks we have gotten everything moved in and unpacked. We have a pretty packed summer with weddings and other events so our time is limited as to when to host a housewarming. Would it seem ok if we held the housewarming in September or early October when our schedules clear up or should we just not have one ?

Re: Housewarming Question!

  • What's your reasoning for having one? If it's to show off your home to your friends, you can have it whenever you'd like. We never had a housewarming party - just not really our thing, but I don't think that there are rules as to when you can or can't have one. Don't make yourselves crazy if you have too much on your plate right now - if you need to wait for more time, do it. Your house, your rules!
  • Awesome...really just to show the family and friends...We don't need anything so it's not like we're pressed for gifts or what not. Just want to celebrate the moment with loved ones.
  • Go for it.  We called it an "open house".  We got some gifts, but nothing crazy and most people brought something to eat or a bottle of wine.  We had a great time!  September sounds good!
  • Have friends and family over a few at a time -- or have an open house BBQ on Labor Day weekend.
    NO registry - NO gifts.

Who the hell has a registry for a housewarming party?
