WIMOHB (SPOILERS to the end)
Okay who is done?
Who was expecting that to happen?
Re: WIMOHB (SPOILERS to the end)
Holy emotional roller coaster. I think experienced every possible emotion on the spectrum while reading this one. I absolutely LOVED it.
I can't even begin to go through ALL my favorite parts. So many wonderful and horrible things.
The first part I remember completely blowing my mind was when Roger went back to 1739. I was NOT expecting that in the slightest! As soon as he figured out where he was, though, I just KNEW that his dad was there. I was really really pleased that he was, but kind if disappointed with how that all panned out. It was awesome to meet Brian and Young Jenny. I cried my eyes out when Brian thought that Brianna and Jem were Ellen and Willie
What is up with Dr. Hector and that blue light? At first, Lauren and I thought that maybe he was Master Raymond, but then the more I read, the less likely I thought it was. I'm really curious to see if either of the kids have this power.
My favorite Claire and Jamie parts:
When they were reunited in the garden shed - that scene had me sweating!!! So. Hot.
When Claire got shot. Jamie refusing to leave her side made me cry and swoon at the same time. I was in a panic during that scene and Jamie was the only thing holding me steady. That whole scene and the one following it (the surgery) were SO NERVE WRACKING!
The scene at the end before he goes to kill the dirty fat lumpkin. When Jamie, err, interrupts her. Haha. The penis song! LOLOL. And the scene where he comes back - when he tells her that she alone holds his whole heart. Swoon.
Rachel and Ian. Oh Rachel and Ian. Rachel is one of my favorite characters. She's just so damned sensible and GOOD. And the way she takes care of Ian? I love them.
Ian killed me in this book. HE IS SO FUCKING HOT. He's so much like Young Jamie, but tougher somehow. The scene where he put a tomahawk through the Indian's head? My mouth hit the floor. His and Rachel's wedding night was so so hot. And when Rollo died and he said the dog had been waiting for Rachel? Oh my god, I'm crying all over again.
LJG. I was convinced he was going to die in this book but I'm SO glad he made it! It was touch and go there for a while - he had a rough time of it through most of the book, but he handled it all with grace like the classy son of a bitch he is. Obsessed. LOVE HIM. SO MUCH.
Denny and Dorothea were so adorable! I adored them and I'll miss them if we don't get to see them next book.
And the conversations between the women in this book were awesome. I laughed so hard at Claire, Rachel and Dottie talking about sex. "Oh god, oh god," Hahahaha.
Germain! Oh man. I love him and Fergus so much. The scene where he stole back Clarence? FUCKING PRICELESS.
But then... The fire. Oh god. I was pretty much inconsolable after that. I didn't think I was going to be able to
keep reading, I was crying so hard. And then the funeral was even harder. I was completely overwhelmed with grief. That scene had me feeling depressed until the end of the book, almost.
When I started part 9, I was panicking that it was still Claire. But what about Bree and Roger and the kids?!!! That's when it occurred to me that the book HAD to end with Bree and Roger going back to The Ridge. When they showed up at the very end, I cried happy tears. There is nothing like a joyful reunion! Tearing up again just thinking of it.
In conclusion: I really think WIMOHB has a new spot among my Outlander favorites. I was not even mildly bored for even one second. The pace of this one was just perfection - important things were happening from beginning to end! And now I think I finally feel ready for the last book.
I'm sure I'll remember more stuff I need to talk about.
Don't get me wrong... I adored Jamie as always in this book. But he was starting to annoy me with his macho man thing. He was just petty and mean to LJ, and I wanted to smack him and tell him to stop being an ass.
I can usually handle time travel stuff but my head was spinning in a few parts. And Buck and Geillis - BIGGEST WTF EVERRR.
I liked William in Echo, but by the end of this one I was super annoyed by him. I was hoping to see him grow up a little, and he really didn't.
Finally - I needed more Ian and Rachel at the end. I hate that we didn't get private Ian/ Rachel time at the end after the baby came
Overall, I loved it!
52 Books in 2014??

My sweet babies:

But everything I have to say has already been said.
I think Bree said something about looking over her shoulder even when she was in the United States. If they go back to the future, they'd have to go with the intention of eliminating Rob Cameron.
