Did you go to Public or Private school?

to the parents or future parents: Have you discussed what type of school your child is going to go too?

Re: qod 6/17

  • I went to Private school through 3rd grade when there was an altercation with my mom and one of the wicked nuns that was there.  Yes, my mom punched a nun, but the nun hit my mom first.  After that incident I went to Public school.

We actually live in a pretty good school district and I pay out the ass for school taxes so if we have children public school it is.

  • I went to private for the first 5 years, but there was a wicked nun, as well that I was crying every night about having so my mom took me out and sent me to public then out. I have to say I really wish I stuck with the private, but whatever I still turned out okay.

Right now, if we do have a child they would have to go to private because of how bad our school district is, but if we eventually move we would just see what is best for said invisible probably not going to happen child. ;)

  • I went to public schools. Middle school 6-8 grade was spent in a Magnet school. They are public but still very hard to get into and basically their own little private school.

We have been discussing this lately because our current house isn't in the best area for schools. We plan to buy a house before Ethan starts school. We will be in the same school district more than likely just different schools. We will decide then, we are leaning towards Magnet schools because it won't matter where we live. Private school here is pointless. Non of them are very good and they are all sports based so if you don't play sports you will get a different tution price which is almost like paying for college.

I went to public school my whole life and I had no problems. Private school isn't an option where we live so it'll be public school for any future children.

  • I went to public school. My husband went to a private school. My husband and I are planning in sending our children to public school. When we bought our house I made sure it was in a school district that I liked. We might move closer to my hometown thus summer and if we do where we live will partially be decided based on the school district the house is in.

  • H & I both went to public school. I imagine we'll send our kid to public school as well.

  • I went to public school. On the island 4 of the 6 towns have their own K-8, then there is a regional high school, so there isn't really a choice. Some kids went off the island to private school in Falmouth, MA, but I am not making my kid take the boat to and from school everyday. Most likely our kids will go to the same elementary school I did :)

  • I went to public K-3, private 4-9, then public again 10-12. H had been in public school his whole life and he loved it. In my experience with both, I preferred public as well, so as long as we stay in a decent school district, I'd like to send my kids to public school. If we have to go private, I would do a better job picking the school than my parents did

  • I went to private school my entire life and loved it. H went to public and loved it. Part of the reason we moved recently though was to get into a much better school district. The two high schools here are actually in the top 100 public high schools in the country this year. Hopefully it'll stay that way because we're planning on sending our kids to public school.

  • I went to public school until college, and then went to two different private schools for undergrad and pharmacy school.

We are moving on Friday (!) and we purposely only looked in three different school districts because they're the top in the state.  We're paying through the nose for the house location, but we intend on sending our kids to public school K-12.

  • I grew up in a pretty bad area so I went to Catholic schools from K-10. I want to a Charter school for 11 & 12.
