Monday Accountability Post

Almost got forgotten today!

1.  How MM was your weekend?

2.  Any progress towards your goals?

3.  Do you care about World Cup soccer?  Why or why not?

Re: Monday Accountability Post

  • Almost got forgotten today!

    1.  How MM was your weekend?
It was good (just $8 on beer and a $30 tank of gas) in anticipation of some big housing expenses and other annual expenses that are all coming due at the same time.  This week I will need to pay $99 for a dental appointment, $150 for my dive instructing insurance, $160 for quarterly taxes, and $350 for our home appraisal.  H also had a $350 car repair and we had our home inspection last week, so all of our short-term reserves are running a little thin.

    2.  Any progress towards your goals?

No, the expenses above have put all of that on hold.  I'm trying to focus on the positive that we're able to cash flow it all instead of dipping into savings like we would have a year ago.  We're even banking some money set aside for things like inspection and appraisal and will be able to use that to keep a big e-fund (or maybe use a little on a reasonably priced couch).

    3.  Do you care about World Cup soccer?  Why or why not?

Yes, I think it's fun that the whole world is involved.  That said, I know nothing about the rules and am on my computer while watching the US/Ghana game, so I guess I'm not THAT into it.

  • 1. How MM was your weekend?

So so. Groceries $114, gas $50, randoms at Target $50, took a friend out to lunch $35

    2. Any progress towards your goals?

No. June is almost as bad as December. We had three Father's Day presents to buy, a birthday, anniversary. Also we spent extra this month in gas since we've been traveling to help my in-laws after they had some property damages after a fire.

    3. Do you care about World Cup soccer? Why or why not?

I don't get into soccer. I'm a football, baseball and hockey fan.

    1.  How MM was your weekend?
Pretty good - spent $20 on a birthday gift for my mom and $40 on a tank of gas for H.  Other than that, nothing.
    2.  Any progress towards your goals?
Had our home inspection on Friday.  We've sent in the list of repairs to the sellers.  We'll see if they counter or if the guy just becomes angry pants and tells us to take a hike.  He's the type that could go either way.
    3.  Do you care about World Cup soccer?  Why or why not?
I don't care at all.  I'm not into sports generally, and I don't know the rules of soccer at all.

  • 1.  How MM was your weekend? Not bad. We just bought groceries ($45) and put gas in the truck ($85). DH and I did treat ourselves to ice cream cones for my birthday though ! ($8) and a small shopping trip to Kohl's ($80)

    2.  Any progress towards your goals? Not much this week. I think I should be able to put some extra cash towards our house reno fund next week through!

    3.  Do you care about World Cup soccer?  Why or why not? I totally do (my nails are currently painted yellow and green and have soccer balls painted on them, haha).  My parents were both born and raised in Brazil so I think I'm required to be interested in it! :)  I've been chatting with my family who mostly all still live in Brazil almost daily discussing the games.

Luckily DH is also into soccer (he played in high school)--He was upset that he didn't have a team USA shirt for him to wear to work today so we went and got him one over the weekend, haha (He already had a Brazil shirt from when we went to visit my family a few months ago.) He mentioned joining a league to play again, which I would totally support. I think it'd be a great way for him to make some new friends and get active again! Plus then I have an excuse to go watch some games. :)
  • 1.  How MM was your weekend?  Pretty decent all and all.  Spent $40 on gas and $60 on dinner with parents.  My mom did allow me and my son to drive their pontoon boat on a 10 HP limited lake.

    2.  Any progress towards your goals? Got paid on Friday and I have automatic money transferred to different savings accounts.

    3.  Do you care about World Cup soccer?  Why or why not?  Not really.  I am not even sure which teams are all playing.  I do hope that Germany wins since the Swiss aren't as good.
  • 1 - Ours was awesome!  We had a garage sale Friday and Saturday and made $300 which will go into the home improvement fund.  Friday we spent $0, Saturday we spent $14 at papa murphys for dinner, Sunday we bought a new carseat for DD and a baby shower gift ($90) and a couple father's day cards ($2).  We also got a couple toiletries we were out of ($7).

2 - Not this week besides the $300 to the home improvement fund.  I'm slowly closing our bank accounts and transferring money to community america

3- I don't care about soccer at all.  I find it very boring to watch.

  • 1.  How MM was your weekend? It was okay. We spent $50 on date night(movie and dinner), and we spent $1 on a DVD I wanted from a yard sale.

    2.  Any progress towards your goals? YES! H caved and let us pull $700 from our savings account so we could pay of another loan! Two loans left and about $8,500. We really needed to get the loan out of the way so we could start saving for my college classes in the fall. I don't want to have to drop classes.

    3.  Do you care about World Cup soccer?  Why or why not? NO. But it makes H happy.

    2.  Any progress towards your goals?  Debt snowball is on hold until February.  Instead we're snowballing it into our savings account to have a big cushion for maternity expenses.  Then anything left over will be one lump sum toward debt.  By our calculations we should be able to pay for our hospital expenses and some baby gear, then still have enough left to pay off the rest of the student loans after baby is here. :-)
So this week we put $350 into savings.
    Congratulations!

    Total-$86

    Any Progress towards goals?

We put $300 into vacay fund and $300 in our savings account

Do you care about World Cup soccer? Why or why not?

No, I don't care of sports in general but H loves soccer so he watches. I'll just sit in the background on the Ipad playing games

    :D
  • Congratulations @brij2006

    1. How MM was your weekend? Meh. I really need to reign in H's spending. He's going through something and is spending like crazy. Already over his spending for the month, and we are close on out eating out budget. He gets me at my weakest - when I wake up. I'm so hungry!

    Friday - BJ's $150, I got lunch with a friend $15

    Saturday - $45 tgi Friday's

    Sunday - IHOP - $30, Walmart - $180

    2. Any progress towards your goals? Put an extra $1000 on my sl on top of the $850 snowball. I got paid 3 times instead of 2 last month, so I was able to add a payment.

    3. Do you care about World Cup soccer? Why or why not?

I'm getting into it. Mostly just when USA plays. My 2 cws (aka work husbands) are big into soccer so we have a pool at work. Winner gets free pizza... And bragging rights.

  • 1. How MM was your weekend? Not bad- we had a wedding Saturday and a Father's Day brunch on Sunday that were all budgeted and paid for. Groceries ($118), Gas ($50)

    2. Any progress toward your goals? Nothing new- we aren't saving much since we are making the last payment on the sewer job next month (put it on a 0% credit card), but hopefully our usual saving of $1,000/month can start up again in September when DH is back to work (he's a teacher). The goal by the end of the year is to add $6,000 to our Roth IRAs, $3,000 to the vacation fund, and get a better rate on a CD that is up in August... everything else is complete.

    3. Do you care about World Cup Soccer? Why or why not? DH watches it so it's on.. I usually do other things.. don't really care either way.

H went on the Hot Rod Power Tour for 3 days and spent $350 of Christmas money he was hoarding.  So that didn't cost us anything.

    Congrats! That's so exciting!!

  • 1) Eh...we spent $20 on take out and $25 for golf supplies for H on Saturday and over $100 on Sunday for Father's Day. We weren't expecting it to be that high but BIL chose the restaurant for dinner. Oh well...I don't think we spent anything on Friday so that's a small victory :)

    2) Nope, just holding tight until we close on the 30th. I can't WAIT until that's done with so we can start heavily paying on H's student loans.

    3) Not really but H is REALLY into it. I watched more soccer this weekend than I have in my whole life! Haha. Not really into most sports but soccer to me is especially boring to watch since goals don't happen very often.

Could have been better, but could have been WAY worse. I only ate out once and that was to take a friend to lunch for helping me move some furniture around(Eating Out Envelope) and a local JoAnn's is closing so they had a crazy sale so I stocked up on fabric for my reenactment that is all earmarked for specific projects so not just "because it was on sale fabric" that came out of the Hobby envelope.

    2.  Any progress towards your goals?
Posted a couple of household items to sell and donated two trashbags full of clothes and bedding thanks to moving houses. Also paid off two of my 401k loans.

    3.  Do you care about World Cup soccer?  Why or why not?
Not really other than rooting for USA. I am a Football, Baseball and College Basketball fan. I am WAY over the Soccer drama on Social Media though...

  • @smbenevides1989‌ he is perfect! How great for your kids to grow up with him! Let us know how it goes with the house as well.

    Bri, congrats!
  •  How MM was your weekend?

Not bad although DH and I are both on vacation (he went fishing, and I went to visit family) so I only know my part of the equation. Although we each budgeted some extra fun money this month, so that should hopefully be covering the vacations. If we stay within that we will be great!

    2.  Any progress towards your goals? No, nothing really. We have decided to start house hunting though and that kind of has me freaked out. We had our mortgage paid off, and will be taking a mortgage out on a new house, but should have about 50% down, so hopefully we can pay it off in a couple years. My goal is to figure out how to do it in 5-7 which I think will be doable even if we expand our family.

    3.  Do you care about World Cup soccer?  Why or why not? No. I hate soccer. I've tried learning the rules and stuff but I can't get them straight so it just isn't interesting to me.

I have the same problem with June too!!! Dh's birthday, our anniversary, and father's day can be a bit draining! Even just trying to think up 3 different presents for DH can suck!

Good luck! I hope the homeowners are up for fixes- honestly if they don't fix it for you, they will probably end up fixing it for another purchaser so hopefully he realizes that and you can still move forward.
