  • I have felt 2. One when I was about 10 and one just a few years ago. I was so strange because DH and I were eating lunch in the break room at work when all of a sudden I felt dizzy. Then the hangers on the coat rack started swinging. We both thought we were crazy but then we looked it up found that the epicenter was near us.

  • Yep a couple. I live is so cal though. They still scare the shit out of me though. Especially the rolling ones.

  • Yes! We were having a family reunion, so my mom and I were sleeping on the pull out bed in the basement so that our guests could have the bedrooms. Both of us woke up because everything was shaking! It was a small earthquake, but it definitely woke us up. We joke that there were too many hot-headed Italians in one house, so it caused an earthquake!

Interestingly, there was another earthquake when I was in the lab in Rochester (the same earthquake that did all of the damage to the Washington Monument in DC). Although that one was stronger, I didn't feel it at all. However, one my lab mates was from Japan and immediately yelled EARTHQUAKE! We thought he was nuts because no one else felt it...sure enough, he was right!

  • Yes! A couple years ago I felt one in my office. I thought it was just vibration from something happening on the loading dock outside, until I went out and saw it on the news.

And when I was in high school, I slept through one. My dad is a geologist and called me all excited; "did you feel the earthquake?" I was like "...what earthquake?" LOL oops.

  • 10 years ago I was in LA and slept through an earthquake. Everyone else in the house felt it, but we had just gotten to LA and were out COLD. So techinically, yes, but I don't remember it!

  • Twice. Although the one I'm not even sure if I noticed.
Once was while on vacation in New Mexico. There was a small tremor that went through. I didn't notice it at all, but I guess the lobby guy at the hotel we were at noticed the decorative items shifted.
The second was right after I started at my new job. We're right near a big traffic area because of the turnpike, so we assumed a big rig went by. The second floor got hit the hardest and had a few things topple.

  • Yup, the one that damaged the Washington monument. I was at work on the 7th floor of our building. We got released to go home shortly after but the trains weren't running so I was stuck.

  • Yes! A lot of them. 2 natural, the rest man-made. We lived in a house not far from a mining company and they were always igniting small explosives in the ground causing earthquakes. It wasn't scary, more of a nuisance
  • No never.  There has been 1 earth quake in my area but I didn't feel it.  I've felt frostquakes in the winter though and that was scary!  Mostly because we didn't know what it was, and it sounded like our roof was breaking.

  • I felt one ( probably the same one as mpjf1001) I think it was 2 years ago and I was also on a jersey beach- you could have been right next to me! Lol it was a strange feeling and it was only a tiny one I can't imagine what a big one feels like!
  • I think so. There have been a few here.  I don't ever remember feeling the trembles though.
