A while ago I posted about our financial situation taking a turn for the worse and that I would have to get a job fast or we will have to leave our home...well I got a job interview for Thursday!

The interview is at the last place I wanted to work but im running out of time and a job's a job right Lol the job is at a local Adult shop :p It is a very clean and high end store, addmittedly ive shopped there before. It would be an interesting job to say the least!

Anyways, I'm not sure if I'll truly be considered as I can't work nights as of yet bcs my daughter is still nursing but I'm going into it chin up and optimistic!

I haven't had to do a job interview since 2009 so I'm a little nervous and rusty. Do any of you have any good pointers for me on interview etiquette? Appearance? Anything??

Thanks in advance!

  • I've got a lot of experience with job interviews, unfortunately for me. My suggestions are to dress well (business casual is usually good), bring in a list of references (if possible) and a copy of your resume, practice answers to potential questions such as "why do you want to work here?" "what's your greatest weakness/strength?"  "how would you respond in this situation?" "are you familiar with the product?"

while I could never work in a store like that, I know that soemtimes beggars can't be chooser, so good luck.

  • Good luck! I agree with a lot of what Christina said. I'd say that given the potential workplace, it will be important to be very outgoing. Also, have a question in mind to ask them about the business. It shows you're interested enough in the position to want to find out more about your potential job. Good luck and let us know how it goes!

  • I agree with everyone's advice and have nothing to add, but good luck!
  • In my previous life I was a recruiter. When I was interviewing people the following things were most important to me:

A good handshake and a genuine smile

Making sure to look the interviewer in the eye and maintaining eye contact. It conveys confidence.

Having knowledge of the company and the industry (sounds like you're good there :) )

Asking good follow up questions. My favorite is to ask why the person you are interviewing likes working for the company. It gives you a good idea of the morale/culture of the place. Also, what do they think is the most important trait/quality a person needs to be successful in the job.

Try not to stress too hard and make sure to be yourself. You will do great!

  • Good luck with your interview!
I agree with the prior posts. As long as you're calm and confident, you should be fine. I feel like an outgoing personality would be needed to handle a workplace like that.
