At what stage of the home buying process do you get excited?

Meaning: Do you celebrate/get excited when you make an offer? It gets accepted? You make it through the inspection? The appraisal? You close? Just curious. My husband and I are being sooooo cautious and I don't know when I am allowed to give into the excitement of it all!

(I think this comes from watching too much HGTV where the couples are crying/elated after their offer gets accepted!)

Re: At what stage of the home buying process do you get excited?

  • Um...we've been pretty excited at each part even though I think we've had a healthy amount of paranoia with each step. We were excited when our offer got accepted (because two other property offers got rejected), and the inspection since nothing was wrong. We were pleased with the appraisal because it was over what we offered. Right now we are getting very excited because we close in less than a month but I guess the most excitement thus far was when our offer finally got accepted.

  • I got excited when they handed me my keys at the closing table!
  • I got excited throughout the process, though I was most excited closing day.  The seller put us through alot of stress throughout the process, so we were just so thankful to be done with it all.
  • Get a little excited about each step but you can really be excited at closing.

I got excited when they accepted our offer, but was still nervous for the home inspection. Once that passed is when I started telling people we found a house... little did I know the appraisal would comeback low and now the bank wont finance it :( We find out today if the seller accpets our new offer at the appraised price. Fingers crossed!

We are in the process. I think the part we got most excited at so far is when our offer on the house was accepted. Since then we have been really cautious since my husband works for a company that builds homes and has seen countless deals fall through. We will be jumping for joy when we close though!
  • I was most excited during the looking process.  So many possibilities!  Which one should I choose to be my new home?  Each step after that was a little exciting, but I knew there were so many things that could go wrong, I purposely tempered my excitement until I was at the closing table.

But then, when I walked out of the office....finally a new homeowner.  The BEST!!!  The only thing a little disappointing is I wanted someone to put keys in my hand.  I knew ahead of time that wouldn't be happening, but that would have made it perfect.

  • It never feels real until after you close on the house. The process of looking for a house is always fun -- comparing options and looking at designs before you actually make a decision.  After that point, it's a lot of paperwork, finalizing contracts, working with a lender if you're financing the purchase, etc. Don't worry about not feeling excited throughout the process, it will all be worth it in the end. I just bought my 4th house last month and each time has been about the same, only easier.
  • When you sign that last paper at the closing.  Don't get excited before that- any number of things could happen to prevent closing.

We are in the final stages of buying our first home and even though we are excited, it doesn't seem real yet. Just glad the house hunting is over! We close on July 10th, and once we get the keys it will be so so exciting! :)

We did get the house at the appraised price, will get our commitment letter today, our final walk through Sunday and close on Thursday at 10am! Holding my breath until then!

  • Actually each stage made be excited while buying my first new home from Bremont Homes. Its being around a month shifted to my new home in Brampton. Though few moments out of them are quite precious for me.
Like visiting at my homes' construction site and watching it how it is constructed, then looking up it once construction work finished and lastly while shifting to new home the BEST Day for me!!!

    :)>-
  • We were excited when our offer was accepted.  The house we put an offer on is a foreclosure, so we've hit a few bumps and have not closed yet.  We have had to move the closing date numerous times  (over the past 7 months) so I have decided I'm not getting excited again until the keys are in my hand.
