I saw your blog post with your kitchen makeover, and it reminded me that I've been meaning to ask you this for awhile...how was it, painting the cabinets?? This is something I fantasize about doing to ours, since I'm not sure that a full makeover with brand new cabinets is in the cards right now. I love the clean white look of yours!
Re: **Meghan**-your kitchen
I am so happy that we painted our cabinets! We did have someone paint them for us, so that made it easy. Rich could have done it, but since it was kind of a big project and he was painting the rest of our downstairs at the time, we just hired someone.
It has made such a difference to our kitchen, and I can't believe we lived with ugly cabinets for so long! I would do it again in a heartbeat!
I'm having someone come over to give us an estimate on painting the paneling in our playroom, so maybe I'll see what they would charge to do the cabinets as well.

It definitely brightens up the whole room! I had planned to change the color of our kitchen too, but then the cabinets made such a difference, that I ended up liking our original color all over again.
Although, we did not plan to replace our appliances until next year, but after the cabinets were painted, they looked so gross, we ended up replacing them this year. You might not want to share that with Brian.
The same thing happens nearly every time I watch HGTV, too.

We speak the same language! We started with the kitchen. We planned to paint it a blue/gray, but when we started painting, I decided I wanted the green to stay. So, since we had the paint, I decided we needed to use it for the powder room. I then decided the vanity also needed to be painted. Then, I thought, why not just spruce up the whole downstairs with new paint!!!!! So we did the family room, living room, foyer, and dining room. We also just finished painting the dining room furniture. Plans to move on to the basement are coming soon....
Also every "we" can basically be replaced with "Rich".
haha, I think he would still argue!! our over the range microwave is new as of December, and the dishwasher is new as of last summer (both of those old ones stopped working so we had to replace) I don't know how old the fridge and oven are, but I can already hear his arguments about how we recently replaced 2 of the 4 things in the room....I say that's what craigslist is for

I say go for it! I actually paid someone to paint these because it was oil paint, it was a small kitchen but I think it cost $600. The lower price was because I let her take the doors and spray them at her shop.
