GTKY: Style

What is your design style? Classic, modern, elegant, etc?

Re: GTKY: Style

  • I didn't know how to answer this, so I took an online quiz. I would say it pretty accurately describes my dream design style:

    Your style is Rustic Charm

Country, handmade and cozy, featuring one-of-a-kind finds. Carefree mix of the new and old. Lived-in look. Country and Rustic describe my home.

Comfortable. I usually stick with clothes I can wear to work (business casual) and outside of work. I just can't afford 2 entirely different wardrobes.

For decoration- we really don't have a style yet. We are still working on figure ourselves out.

  • When it comes to clothes I go with comfortable. Weekends I love my jeans and tshirts and sweatshirts. At works, I need dress pants and nice shirts but I go for comfy there too. And lots of my shirts are can be dressy or more casual.

When it comes to decorating: we're eclectic lol. Luckily h and I are on the same page though. We do like more modern looking things, but also like the classic touch here and there. Then, we have our Lego collection and Disney stuffed animals haha it's quite the vibe we've got goin on in our house.

Our house is a blend of new and old. I like the classic look but with antique and vintage pieces. As far as wardrobe goes, I'm a simple girl. Less is more as far as I'm concerned.

  • Traditional transitional.  Classic lines but not afraid to add a more modern color or pattern to the mix.  looking at our house furnishings and my clothes, you can't tell if they were bought last week or last decade.

  • Clothes is very comfy cute. I like stylish things but it's all about comfort too. I'm a jeans and tshirt kinda girl so when I wear something different I don't want to be uncomfortable.

Design is more modern but slightly rustic. I like an update look but with some wood and browns. H is an outdoors guy and country so having fancy things will never happen (not that I want them).

Sometimes I still feel like a teenager. I usually wear jeans and tshirt, which is what I can also wear to work, and if I still fit into my clothes from high school, I would absolutely still be wearing those. I haven't gone proper clothes shopping in about 5 or 6 years.

My favorite color combo is black with neon colors so I'll wear layers like that, and I got black with neon peacock feathers seat covers for example (I totally look like a sophomore in high school with them, but they used to be black with neon pink hearts which I feel is worse). In the house, H and I are pretty lazy decorators, so we don't really have anything. I like earthy, yet modern, and H hates the work. So...

Oh and I took a quiz too from Marie Claire:

    Simply Relaxed

You know who you are and what you're willing — and not willing — to do in the name of fashion. While your California casual style won't necessarily wow on the red carpet, you do win in the effortless department, and that counts for a lot in our book.

My style is definitely modern. My whole house is different shades of gray. I have mostly all black furniture, and modern patterns in different rooms (chevron, trellises, damask, etc).
