Re: Book Club Monday

  • Well, I flailed all over last week's post about The Maze Runner, but I will do so again. All of you who dig YA dystopian fantasy a la Hunger Games, Divergent, The Giver, etc., read this book before the movie comes out in September.

(And the movie apparently stars the guy from Teen Wolf, so anyone who is a fan of that show should ALSO read the book. And then see the movie. Which looks like it's been adapted very well!)

I'm now reading The Trajectory of Dreams by Nicole Wolverton. This one is also great so far! It's written from the perspective of a character who, if I had to guess, is suffering from paranoid delusions and hallucinations. And the story is such that you can read it as if you believe that what she's experiencing is real and that she really is on this vitally important and fascinating mission, or you can read it as an equally interesting story about the inner life of an insane woman who is fairly good at hiding her madness from others.

  • Reading shift - silo #2 - so good! It's 3 short stories (like 150 pages each) but they are all related.

Listening to don't go - Lisa scottline (or something) It's good but it makes me nervous.

  • @Pockysquirrel I'm curious if the grievers will look anything like I pictured.  I plan on dragging DH to that movie when it comes out.
  • @goatlady12‌ - I watched the trailer, you only catch a glimpse of them but what I saw did look like I imagined. The clawed mechanical legs in particular. So creepy!

  • Ugh, I'm going to give up on Island Beneath the Sea. I'm halfway through and have been working on it for weeks.

I am going to start The Firebird this week.

  • I am reading Mercy still. I am about half done with it. It's an okay book. As of right now I wouldn't recommend it. I only have it another 3 days so I hope I can finish it.

Still listening to The Goldfinch. I made good progress this weekend. I think I'm 75-80% done.

  • I plan to read The Maze Runner! Sounds intriguing.

I've been burning up my Kindle! I read Crash by Nicole Williams, Into the Darkest Corner by Elizabeth Haynes, Slammed by Colleen Hoover, and What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty. I think I gave all of them 5 stars!! I've enjoyed my time able to read. Now I just started Point of Retreat, the 2nd book in the Slammed series. <3<3 reading and summer break!

  • Maybe I need to give Maze Runner another shot for as much as everyone else seems to like it.
