BCP Question: Overly Emotional?

Hi there, I recently went back on birth control in April and I swear it's making me an emotional wreck. I'm on my last week of active pills before the sugar pill week and I feel like a lunatic. I've noticed this happening during this week the last 2 months. Anyone else experience this? Even though I'm aware that it's most-likely the pill causing it and I can rationalize that, I still find myself getting overly upset and angry.

I'm taking Aviane. I specifically asked for a $0 copay pill. Is it likely that the chemistry of those pills are the same and I'll have the same problem, even if I switch?

I've been under a lot of stress the last month between home and work and I'm sure it's contributing - but I really think it's this pill.

I can't take hormonal birth control for that exact reason! I was on the Depo shots for a while, until DH (then DF) realized I was acting weird. So I stopped getting the shots and started taking Seasonale (the ones you take for 3 months with no period), which just moved the moodiness to once a month. So then I went to a low-dose pill, which didn't help at all, and after that my OB talked me into Nuva ring because she said it had the least hormones of all. I really should not have let her talk me into that. It gave me migraines so bad that the first time I got one I thought I was having a stroke and I went to the ER! Not good. So I got a Paraguard IDU (copper only) that I had for 6 years before I had it removed when we were ready to TTC. I got on put back in after DS was born. I really can't recommend it enough! I tried so many different types of BC, and I was just over it. Evidently I'm super sensitive to the hormones, and now that I know that I'm never going back!

I would ask to try another. I have responded differently to the various pills I have used over time. SO while they do essentially the same thing, they are different. Also, I think most if not all BCP are $0 copay thanks to the ACA.

I agree. I was on one a few years back that made me feel crazy, switched to something different and had no problems. After I had Liam, it took almost a year of switching to a few to find something that didn't make me spot in between cycles. So even though they were all BCPs, I guess my body reacted differently to each of them. I'd ask for something else. I think as long as it's available in generic, it's free.

I am only chiming in to say I just got back on pill and bop was always free before but whatever she wrote script for was $25 which I need to call and have them change to something else! So not all are free!

Is it monophasic or triphasic? A lot of people have issues with triphasic. If you are having issue with a specific week that could easily explain it. I had the same issue with my triphasic pull and switched to a monophasic one that was similar to the first week of the triphasic pill.

Also I thought the $0 bcp should be most. I'm taking generic loestrin (junel) and it's free.

I took Junel and had substantial breakthrough bleeding. I didn't have any emotional issues, though!

If you liked it besides the breakthrough bleeding, you may want to ask to try a different generic for it. When I originally started getting generic for loestrin they have me microgestin. Breakthrough bleeding for me. I tried junel as a different generic for loestrin and no issues. I take junel continuously with no breakthrough issues but microgestin just didn't work for me even though they should be the "same".

I would just discuss with your dr and they should be able to find something that is a better fit
