How Much Water Do You Drink Per Day?

My doctor and Body by Vi say it should be about half your body weight in ounces per day. Ummmmmm I won't EVER leave the bathroom!!!

How much per day do you drink? Do you count other beverages, coffee, etc?

Re: How Much Water Do You Drink Per Day?

  • I don't count my other beverages as water even though I know I can. I average 120oz a day, more at work cause it's right next to me a little less on weekends. I like water!

  • Probably 32 oz of pure water. Also, coffee, tea, and fruit.
    Married 2011.
    Baby Boy 2015.
  • I always have 1 or 2 coffees in the morning but at work I can drink up to 32 oz of water in one work day. At home I drink water non stop. Probably close to 32 oz minimum between 6pm-10pm every night. So total I drink a minimum of 76 oz a day but it's probably closer to 90-100 oz in a day. And that's 95% water. I don't drink coffee in the morning and I don't drink anything but water or seltzer ever.

FWIW, when I was hyperfocused on weight loss, I averaged about 160 oz a day. To be honest, getting up every hour to pee gave me a break from work.

I only count water, but I imagine other beverages should count, too?  When talking about the amount of water you should drink in a day, it's just straight water, in addition to anything else you might drink. So even if you have a 16 oz soda or an 8 oz glass of juice, that doesn't count toward your water intake for the day. I don't count coffee or tea either, since steeping introduces other elements and your body does absorb it a little differently than just water.

As for me, I keep a 24-oz bottle at work and usually fill it at least twice during my work day. I'll easily drink at least another 20 oz at home in the evening, so I'm usually somewhere around 70+ oz of just water each day. Plus my morning tea and/or juice and evening glass of almond milk. I pee a lot.

  • I honestly have no idea. I have a refillable cup and probably fill it 5-6 times while at work. I'd guess it's about 20 oz and then 2-4 16 oz glasses at home in the evenings. So maybe 100-150 a day?

  • I've been aiming for the half my weight in ounces thing, except that would be close to 4.5 LITRES of water in a day, which I cannot do at work (since I have to wait for someone to come around for bathroom breaks) I've been averaging 3-4 litres. But since I started drinking more water I have noticed far less headaches than i used to!
