Dreaming about work every night
I think it's funny this board is called "9 to 5" because my job and so many others are definitely not 9 to 5, but I get the point. I started a new job about 3 months ago. I really love this job, but it has definitely pushed me out of my comfort zone a lot. I think I am getting better at it and more comfortable every day, and I know it's something I'd like to continue if at all possible. My one issue is that my bosses are not entirely the nicest people and that their communication skills are awful. The way this job works involves a lot of texting to communicate things. Since they are already so hard to communicate with in person, this makes texting that much worse. They sometimes act like I'm clueless when I really just like to clarify questions a lot (since I am a perfectionist. sigh). Anyways, because of the fact that this job is very out of my comfort zone and because my bosses tend to put me a little on edge, I have been dreaming about this job every night. It's like I'm replaying my work day over and over, every single night. I used to get this occasionally with previous jobs, but definitely not all the time and I didn't enjoy those jobs as much. I don't know how to make it stop. I don't want to overanalyze, but am I missing something here? Is my subconscious telling me something?
Re: Dreaming about work every night
There is too much stress at that job if you are continually dreaming about that job.
The same thing happened to me at a job that I had.
The place was not good. The boss thought nothing of keeping me there 2 or 3 hours past the time I was to normally leave --- he claimed it was part of the training --- plus he was giving me "homework assignments" nightly to ensure that I was learning my job in the company.
I'd come home at 8:30 pm, have about an hour's worth of his homework and I'd have no time for myself. I'd be up at 5 am each day; the job began at 8 and it took me an hour to get there and an hour to arrive home. Try to feed your dog, get to a supermarket or do other normal things like your laundry or housecleaning and catching up on mail and news from friends in that short time span.
There were a ton of problems internally: one of the problems was that he was a pushover and would not assume the alpha position: 2 of the employees took liberties of bossing the guys in the shop; one of them yelled at one of the guys for taking office supplies wihle the boss stood by and watched this.
I also got hurt at the facility; a shelf got loose from the wall and it fell on me. (he reinstalled the shelf in the same place after that. Go figure)
I was there 6 months and couldn't take it; I quit. After that, I dreamed about that place every night for a month and then it stopped.
