  • I just finished Winter's Bone (#25 for the year) and it was good.  I enjoyed it more than I had anticipated.

I'm trying to decide what to start next.  We leave for vacation on Wednesday and I feel like I need to be strategic with the choices I make ;)

I have to admit that I feel ridiculous calling myself a runner after reading this book though.  I am blown away by these Ultramarathoners.  There is no way these people can be human.  I will never bitch about a 10k ever again in my life after having read this.

I also finished Shiver of Light earlier in the week, which I liked.

I'm also reading The Dark Monk, it is #83 for the year and it's good.

I'm listening to The Maze Runner, it is #84 and I'm not really sure about it, I'm about to finish it up but it feels flat to me.

  • I'm reading Plastic Purge: How to Use Less Plastic, Eat Better, Keep Toxins Out of Your Body, and Help Save the Sea Turtles! by Michael SanClements. It's #40 for the year. I'm only 1 chapter in so too soon to tell how I like it, but I do like the way it is written (casual, easy to understand, not overly scientific).

My original goal for the year is 40, so I'm excited I'm almost done with it halfway through the year! I had bumped it to 52 but I confident I will exceed that too.

It will be 16/30 for me. If I stay on track I might even go a few books over which would be huge for me!
  • Finished The Age Of Miracles earlier this morning. It was just okay.

Started After The End and I am enjoying it so far.

  • I'm reading Thomas Jefferson: The Art of Power.  It's not as engaging as the Washington and Adams books I read were, but it's quite good.  Just going a little more slowly than I might like.

I'm listening to Seige and Storm.  I dislike Aleina and it makes me dislike the book a bit.  She's just such an idiot, and I find myself screaming at her in the car.  I don't know, maybe this series just isn't for me - you guys all seem to love it so much, I'm waiting for it to get good.  I'm on disc 3 of 10, and I plan to finish it, looking for redeeming qualities about this fool, but eeesh.

These are 31 and 32 for the year.  I've exceeded my soft goal of reading more than I did last year (last year was 30), so I'm satisfied.  Jefferson is for the Presidential Challenge.

  • I'm reading A Shot of Sultry. It's #24 for the year. Loving it!

I'm listening to Outlander. I love the narrator!

I'm listening to I am the Messenger (again) since I get to be in the actual presence of Markus Zusak at ALA this weekend. Woot!

I'm almost done with Push Girl and you guys, I knew I was going to like this book, but I was not prepared for the fact that I'd be reading at least half of it through the tears brimming up in my eyes. There are so many beautiful moments of friendship and joy in this book, and I don't want it to end. Two thumbs up, @Young_Love!

  • I'm listening to The Android's Dream by John Scalzi and narrated by Wil Wheaton.  This is the third Scalzi book I've listened to (all three narrated by Wheaton) and I've been crazy for all of them.  So fun!

  • Picking my way slowly through Lonesome Dove. It is good but I'm totally fine with a few pages here and there I guess. :-/

I just started NOS4A2 and I'm enjoying it.

Listening to The Storied Life of AJ Fikry. I know it's rated somewhat highly and on a whim checked it out. The writing is well done. It's emotional and cute but not too much of either of those things. Smart and little hints of books and reader trivia here and there!

These are books 37-39. I'm hoping to make at least 50 this year; 60 would be better.
